Interviews: Light The Fire

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Electrocnic/Post-Hardcore band Light The Fire from USA. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name?

Andrew: When starting the band I wanted to have a recurring message in the lyrics of positivity while being truthful about how cold and dark the world can be sometimes. Basically, Light the Fire in a dark world was the theme. All our lyrics are very real and deal with dark problems yet we always try to summarize with hope for better and overcoming our issues.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Andrew: It's the style of music I've always been into. I love melody and I love heavy. This type of music gives you the freedom to do both. Sevendust were the first ones to marry the 2 perfectly for me.

Trey: My friend in High school gave me a burned copy of an In Flames album and I fell in love with the energy and emotion, it was pretty much like a light switch was flipped on inside me.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Andrew: Yes, we were all members of local Texas bands that had played together in the scene. We have had some member changes over the years but a replacement was always someone from a band we had played with that was just a phone call away. Our guitar player Trey is the only exception. He moved here from Florida. Blake and both knew him for several years prior to him joining the band even in that instance.

Trey: Yeah, I knew Blake and Andrew since 2015 but didn’t join till 2017

Blake: I met Andrew when we were in different bands before I joined LTF. Trey and I met each other through our dads knowing one another.

4. Each band members favourite band?

Andrew: Story of the Year / Bring Me the Horizon

Trey: Counterparts/Misery Signals

Blake: Periphery, but been listening to a lot or orchestral music lately

Seth: Thrice

Felix: Brand New

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Seth: Life and past experiences

Trey: I get inspired out of the blue or when I’m around Seth lol

Blake: For me, music has always had an emotional connection. Certain notes played in certain ways, has always tugged at those strings to make the whole greater than the sum of its parts. Connecting to an emotion and being able to share that through songs and sounds, with people whom I've never met, yet everyone still being able to connect in someway, shape, or form to a melody. It’s interesting that we all can hear the same thing and everyone take away a different meaning or feeling.

6. Where was your last gig?

Andrew: We did a small 3 day Texas run with Eyes Set to Kill in San Antonio, Dallas, & Houston. We also did a 1 off show with our homies in The Leader The Legend in Fort Worth at the Rail Club as well.

7. Where would you like to perform?

Andrew: Australia, Europe, & Japan

Trey: Everywhere lol

Blake: Japan. I would love to tour in Japan and see a culture that has always interested me.

Felix: The UK

8. Whom would you like to tour with?

Trey: Underoath would be sick

Seth: Wage war

Andrew: A Day To Remember or While She Sleeps

Felix: Slaves or Palisades

9. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Andrew: When I first started yes. For me it went away just from playing more and more shows. No real secret to it in my experience in getting over it other than to just go do it.

Trey: Every time I get on stage lol. I take my glasses off so I can’t make eye contact with anyone except who’s on stage. So it feels like I’m just playing with my friends instead of  performing.

Blake: Not really anymore, but I kind of have a cheat in the system. I'm near sighted and have long hair so I just take my glasses off and I can’t see anyone in the audience. Smaller shows/ Acoustic shows make me more nervous than big shows.

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

Trey: Being as an Ocean. They’re true artists and every song I’ve heard of theirs inspires me to write.

Seth: Saosin & Thrice

Andrew: Anything that Butch Walker touches I’m super into.

11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Trey: Nothing really

12. What do you think of your fans?

Seth: Extremely grateful to have them and hope we continue to deliver thought-provoking, passionate music that they deserve

Trey: They’re the best and they come to throw down. It’s awesome to see everyone get into things especially when Seth gets in the crowd.

13. Anything to add?

Andrew: To anyone that supports us THANK YOU! The response to our newest single “TRUE NORTH” has been incredible and it’s only the beginning. We have a new album and new music videos coming very soon. Also, THANK YOU to everyone at www.breathingthecore.com for this interview!
