Interviews: The Survival Code

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Rock  band The Survival Code from UK. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Gary: We thought it through for a while actually. We had a good few options and asked our friends along with our gut instinct. We have always treated the band professionally and writing songs has always been a means to understand and come to terms with everyday so “The Survival Code” made sense as it’s our whole life in many ways, and has been a vocation that I wouldn’t change

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Tom: We’ve always been inspired by rock in its many guises and have both always played in that genre. I suppose the idea for this band was to have all the rock in terms of instruments and inherent energy that particular genre had with some serious melodies and singing to create something everyone could enjoy. We were both in heavier and more obscure genres before so this was a welcome break and somewhere we’ve enjoyed exploring

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Gary: No we met on the good ‘ol gumtree back in the day. Unfortunately no romantic stories of childhood school friends but we have been a very tight munit the years we’ve know each other. Brother from another mother

4. Each band member favourite band?

Gary: At the moment I’m leaning towards Avenged Sevenfold, but it’s always changing between a few usual suspects

Tom: Sooo many!...System of a Down as they’re like this project in some ways

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Gary: Everyday life, life in the band and the people/characters we meet along this crazy journey :)

6. Where was your last gig?

Tom: Our last show was in Whitechapel and was organized by a good friend of ours so we had a blast

7. Where would you like to play?

Gary: Wembley, may as well aim big right?!

8. Who would you like to support?

Tom: We’d love to support the Foos, they only play stadiums so you know you’re going to have the time of your life in front of 80k+

9. Whom not?

Gary: Haha seems harsh, I suppose anyone that’s just not in our genre and makes the crowd scratch their head. So I suppose I’ll pick one of my favourite heavy bands - Lamb of God, it wouldn’t work but it would be an honor despite the crowd confusion

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Tom: Stage fright thankfully not! But nerves are par for the course - especially when you start out. I’d go for a classic and say picture everyone naked

Gary: Practice, practice, practice. Record your rehearsals and get a feel for how you’re communicating your music live and the more on top of that and practiced you are, confidence will help banish any unwanted nerves

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Gary: Alkaline trio, Coheed and Cambria, silverchair, smashing pumpkins and you’d have to say Nirvana

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Tom: To come around to our house. Straight up, a complete stranger at the
time! A lot of respect min you

13. What do you think of your fans?

Gary: Absolute legends! Unfortunately rock isn’t the most popular genre
these days so fans left are real fans - we’re lucky, but always open to some
more of you want to check out our Facebook or socials :)

14. What do you think of our site?

Tom: Very classy! Particularly love the XXX

15. Something to add?

Gary: Thank you very much for having us! Our album is out August 31st and we can’t wait to share more of our new music with you. Our next single “Crawl” is our July 27th
