Interviews: The Magic Lotus

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Rock band The Magic Lotus from UK. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Because of our Greek roots (we were born and raised in Greece) we wanted something that it would have a nice meaning and Greek roots. What's better place to look than Greek mythology? The Magic Lotus been taken from Odyssey, Odysseus and his men landed in the Lotus eaters island which when you were eating this "magic" lotus you were craving for more and you weren't thinking about your home any more and you wanted to stay in this Island forever..

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

That came out naturally, we never said that's the genre we want to play. We  love rock in any of its forms and we enjoy playing it, so it makes sense to us to do that.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Not really, we met each other during our music studies in Athens. A nice thing worth mentioning is that George (drummer) when he first met John said "I'm never gonna play in the same band with this guy". Since then we still play together in the same band and for the last 3 years we share the same flat.

4. Each band member favourite band?

For both of as, hands down, Nirvana.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We get inspiration mostly from things that happens around us socially. We're really concerned about all this crap that happens in this world and we feel that we need to wright about that. But still you can get inspiration from a weird thing that happened on the tube, from our every day life routine, from a nice movie or book. Inspiration is literally everywhere around us, you just need to spot it.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was at the New Cross Inn.

7. Where would you like to play?

To be honest we really want to play at Glastonbury. But one step at a time.

8. Who would you like to support?

Definitely Radiohead.

9. Who not?

Notis sfakianakis

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We all in some point felt that and we're gonna feel it again. As long as you play with your band mates and you are well prepared you have nothing to be afraid of. Good preparation is the key.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

There is a lot of artists but we'll say some of them because we need to answer. Nirvana, Radiohead, Joy Division, Muse, Queens of the Stone Age And some Greek rock and traditional artists as well.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We don't really have fans, people don't like us so much.

13. What do you think of your fans?

If we had we would like to tell them a big thanks they are really lovely!

14. What do you think of our site?

Now because you asked that we're running to our phones to check your site. After 20 minutes. We really liked it! It's really important that you support new and upcoming artists and we personally thank you very much for the interview.

15. Something to add?

A little bit of sugar?
