Interviews: Ronx

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Pop Punk band Ronx from USA. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or did it come out just like that?

Miguel: Well, I came up with the idea of the name Ronx because it is named after the borough we all live in which is The Bronx. Ronx had a nice ring to it so we kept the name.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Josh: Once I discovered Blink-182, my life was introduced into the world of pop punk. I fell in love with the punk rock energy and how melodic and emotional a lot of these bands are. I related the most to pop punk bands than any rapper or pop star.

Miguel: We wanted to play this genre because it was something we all loved to listen to ever since we were younger. Bands like Blink 182 and Neck Deep really inspired us to create a band and play fun music. This genre also varies from soft punk to skate punk to pop punk, so on and so forth which we really like because we dont always have to stick to the same recipe.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Josh: Me and Miguel were friends in high school and pretty much made a band not long after we became friends.

Miguel: Well, me and Josh knew each other ever since freshman year of high school and we were in the same band for a couple of years, going through members coming in and leaving. Once we found Dave, who we met from one of our friends, we knew he would be a keeper, so we started from scratch with Ronx.

4. Each band member’s favourite band?

Josh: My favorites are Blink, Neck Deep and 5 Seconds Of Summer.

Miguel: This is always a hard one cause I love so many bands, but my all time favorites would be Blink-182 and August Burns Red.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Josh: Ed Sheeran got me into songwriting and inspired me a lot, then came my favorite bands that inspired me to write even further.

Miguel: What inspires me to write songs are mostly from my experiences through life. Whether it is a relationship, breakup, or whenever I just feel upset, I would normally write a song about how I feel and it usually makes me feel better.

6. Where was your last gig?

Josh: We played Punk Island Fest on June 23rd and a benefit show for it a week before in Brooklyn.

7. Where would you like to act?

Miguel: I personally would like to play The Studio at Webster Hall.

Josh: We would love to play Wembley or the O2 stadium; all of our heroes played there.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Josh: I'd love to have an iconic Mark Hoppus feature one day; life would be complete after that.

Miguel: I would love to have Ben from Neck Deep feature.

9. Whom not?

Josh: I wouldn't say no to any feature,  it would be funny to have Nicki Minaj or Drake feature on our song one day. Something new and cool to see.

Miguel: To add onto what Josh said, I wouldn’t mind having some Cardi B also.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Josh: I had horrible anxiety on stage all through out high school and a little after. My only tip is to put on that rock star attitude and keep doing it. When you go on stage, tell yourself “F*ck yeah, I’m a rockstar, let’s kill this set.”

Miguel: I suffer stage fright a lot, but the way I overcome it is just preparing myself by listening to music that gets me pumped and use that energy towards my playing so I’m more focused on the music rather than who is out there. I think the greatest tip I have is just don’t worry the size of the crowd; just focus on your music being heard, because at the end of the day, that’s what the audience at the show will be attracted by.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Josh: Fall Out Boy and Neck Deep have influenced me a lot. On our album, there’s mostly Blink influences, but it stretches out.

Miguel: Blink-182 and 5 Seconds of Summer really inspire me. There was a time where I would research these bands all the time and watch how they came to be and where they are today. It gives me hope that maybe one day, we could be just like them.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Josh: Our fans have yet to be weird, but I’m waiting for the weird fans to pop up.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Josh: Love our fans and so blessed to have people who love our music. There is no Ronx without them

14. What do you think of our site?

Josh: The site is pretty solid; I like how professional it is and how much of a community it has.

Miguel: I love how it has a variety of bands and genres in there - shows how huge the punk and rock community is.
