Interviews: Wave Break

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock/Pop Punk band Wave Break from USA. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

For a few weeks we were throwing around ideas trying to come up with something. At one point we thought of one phrase, made a couple changes to it and got Wave Break. It was the first one that really stuck because we thought it was memorable and it had meaning to it.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We all grew up listening to bands in this genre. It’s very close to our hearts and we want to make people feel the same way we did when we were younger.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We did not, actually. We pretty much found each other on Craigslist last year!

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We write about real-world experiences or thoughts we have. A lot of the songs on the new EP are about experiences with other people or real self-doubts that we’ve had about ourselves.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was at The Met in Providence, RI. It was the biggest venue we’ve played to date and it was a lot of fun! We’re looking forward to all of our upcoming shows as well, cause they’re all venues that we haven’t played at yet.

7. Where would you like to act?

We’d like to play in as many places as possible. We want to keep expanding, and we’re hoping to be able to go further in all directions in the near future. As far as venues, playing House of Blues Boston or Gramercy Theatre in New York City would be quite the experience.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We’d love to feature with another powerhouse female vocalist like Jenna McDougall or Lynn Gunn one day, or even with Mark Rose of Spitalfield or Jason Vena of Acceptance. Any of those would be amazing.

9. Whom not?

Not sure! Maybe not Nickelback?

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We all have at one point or another. With time, it goes away. You eventually gain the confidence you need to go up there without worrying about it. When you’re starting out, get used to performing for trusted friends or family; people who can offer support or advice. Once you start getting great feedback and you get used to playing for people, you’ll start to feel more and more like you can take on playing for more people.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

The bands and artists we grew up listening to have influenced us the most. Paramore, Blink-182, All Time Low, Avril Lavigne, etc. We also love the stuff that newer bands are putting out, but it’s the older stuff that got
us into music in the first place.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Ha there’s one extremely weird thing that we’re not sure we feel comfortable explaining. But otherwise, our fans have been good to us and we’re so thankful for them.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love them. We have yet to meet a lot of them, but they’re super sweet and supportive. We love meeting them at shows!

14. What do you think of our site?

Your site is great! Definitely a lot of great bands on it to look through. We’re going to be looking through and trying to find some new stuff to listen to!

15. Something add?

Yes! Our debut EP “Armory” is coming out on August 17th and we’re playing 6 shows directly after to support it! We’ll have CDs and t-shirts at all these shows too. We’d love to meet you all there!
