Interviews: To An End

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Alternative Metal/Hard Rock band To And End from Australia. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name was one of many for consideration at the time. It was quite difficult to find something that firstly, wasn't already taken and secondly, sounded good and was decent as a logo. We think 'To An End' ticks the boxes!

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We consider ourselves metal or alternative metal as we have varying elements throughout our songs. Metal has been our preferred genre for each band member so it made sense to contribute to such an amazing and diverse style of music.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Myself (Matt – Guitarist) and Al (vocals) went to school together and have known each other for many years. I started the band really as a project with Al contributing vocals and after the recording session, we realised pretty quickly that we needed to be an active band playing as often as possible. Al knew Shane (drums) and I met Yiorgs (bass) while playing in a Killswtich Engage cover band !

4. Each band member favourite band?

Al – Journey
Yiorgs – Killswitch Engage
Shane – Meshuggah
Matt – Metallica

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Writing music and being creative is rewarding and just good fun. When the combination of all the elements of a song all comes together, it is something that can't really be replicated anywhere else. Then, you get to enjoy that feeling with your band mates in full flight and in front of an audience. Which then inspires you to write even more! Haha

6. Where was your last gig?

We travelled from Melbourne to Canberra to play the Chaos in the Capital festival.

7. Where would you like to perform?

We love to play so we are open to any and all gigs but the dream would be some of the big festivals whether if it was at home in Australia, or certainly Europe and the US.

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

Metallica would have the be the ultimate gig for us. They have been a huge influence on each member plus, it doesn't get much bigger than that!

9. Whom not?

I don't think we would have a list of artists we wouldn't perform with. I mean, if were to ever be on a bill where we stand out genre-wise, then it's just a new audience to get in front of. We'd give it our all either way.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We have all played in bands over the years so stage fright isn't really a thing. It more just anticipation and excitement to play.... thankfully haha. As for tips, I would suggest that being well rehearsed and prepared will reduce a lot of the anxiety. Then it's just a matter of playing as often as possible. Every gig is a step forward, no matter who to or how big.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

We all have pretty different musical interests individually, but as a collective, we all agree on the greats as being big inspirations – Metallica, Pantera, Tool, Slayer, Black Sabbath etc.

Individually it would range from Journey to Glassjaw to Nirvana to Meshuggah to Faith No More... the list of inspirations goes deeper though and would continue on for pages!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

So far, we haven't encountered anything weird.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We appreciate anyone who is into our music and we'll do our best to play as far and wide as possible. We can't wait to get more and more music out there!

14. What do you think of our site?

This site is a great introduction to bands with more information available than other sites.

15. Something to add?

We have just released our new single called Wasteland here: https://youtu.be/KodUFu2shKw

Our full length debut album to come later this year!

Thanks also for the opportunity to be featured on your page. Cheers!
