A - Z Interviews: Why Everyone Left

Modena’s Pop-Punk Crew Why Everyone Left released their latest EP ‘This Is Not A Test’, via Penultimate Records on 2 nd November. The band was determined to be very hands-on, with Enzo producing and recording all bar the drums himself
and Seb Barlow (Neck Deep, WSTR, As It Is) at Celestial Productions handling mixing duties. The resultant 5-tracker sees the band declaring: “I think we finally found our way with this EP. The previous ones were too heterogeneous, this time there's a connection from start to finish.” Taking influence from the likes of State Champs, Four Year Strong and A Day To Remember, ‘This Is Not A Test’ sounds like long summers spent drinking with your friends, delivering big, bouncy riffs and infectious vocal hooks. Now frontman Enzo is here to take the A-Z interview, so we can find out all about them...

A Song Which Made You Want To Make Music:

"Worry Rock" by Green Day, back in 2003 from the record ‘Nimrod’. That song changed everything in my life.

Best Album Ever Written:

That's too hard! There are too many great records out there.  Some of my favourites ever would be 'Ocean Eyes' by Owl City and 'Still Not Getting Any' by Simple Plan.

Craziest Moment You’ve Experienced In The Band:

That’s tough to just pick one haha but I'll go with this.  During our Euro tour back in 2016 we were in Hamburg,

Germany, and Melrose (the English band we were touring with) had a friend come all the way from the UK to see the show.  He got super drunk and started to be very annoying, then he called a taxi (or his friends did probably) and went back to the airport as he had the flight back home the following morning.  Right after he left we realised he took the bag of our guitar player, Thom, which had all of his documents, money, GoPro and other stuff.  So some of us went to the airport and some of us stayed at the club (Thom couldn't move since he didn't have documents).  We reached the guy at the airport who was kind of dead on the floor and took the bag, he didn't even realise.

Meanwhile some drunk guys started a huge fight right out of the club and they were throwing things on cars and shit like that, haha!  That was pretty crazy.

Deepest Lyrics One Of Your Songs Features:

I always loved this one from 'Long Nights And Drives', “I just called tonight, to tell you that I'm not missing you”, and this one from 'Still Golden’, “Don't forget, I'm by your side, and your age doesn't mean anything, Hold my hand, cause we're still golden and no one can take that away”.

Easiest Song You Wrote:

Probably “Ten Thousand Times”.  I just wanted to write a fast punchy punk song and I think it took me around 3 or 4 days, we recorded it and released it like 2 weeks after.

Favourite Show You’ve Ever Played:

Probably the show we played earlier this year with Tiny Moving Parts in our hometown, the crowd went completely nuts during our set.

Guest You’d Most Like To Feature On A Your Record:

Sammy from WSTR! We're loving everything WSTR is doing lately and it would be so awesome to have him on a song.

Happiest Moment You’ve Experienced In The Band:

I think that coincides with our favourite show we played! Playing live is the best thing ever. If I had to pick another one I would say signing to Penultimate Records.  We’ve worked with them in the past, and Jamie really loves and supports us.  It’s great working with someone who is also a huge fan of our music.

Interesting Fact About One Of Your Members:

We're all music producers! Isn't that weird?

Jokes You Have In The Band:

We always make fun of Luca Bi falling asleep everywhere, so many times strangers waked him up cause he slept in forbidden places and it's so fun haha

Kicking Off Your Set Is Best With Which Song:

'Pack Your Sh*t’ hands down.  It was our big single back in 2015 and people still love it - they go crazy EVERY time.

Longest Distance You’ve Travelled To Play A Show:

We play''s been a 10/11 hour drive just for one show, AND we went back home right after the show and drove all night.  But it was worth it, one of our best shows ever, we wanna go back to Prague!

New Band You’d Recommend:

Shaded from the UK! We played with them twice touring England and they are so damn good!

Opening For This Band Would Be Ideal:

A Day To Remember or Neck Deep, that's one of our dreams, we love those bands so much.

Place You’d Most Like To Tour:

Would love to tour with Neck Deep or WSTR!

Quote That You’d Like To Pass On To Readers:

Go see bands, make new friends and have fun, don't spend your weekend on the couch with Netflix (do that during the week lol)

Reason For The Title Of Your Recent/Forthcoming Release:

"This Is Not A Test" is actually a lyric from the first single "Bouch".  As the title of the EP, it means that we just want to be taken seriously out there, especially out of our country.

See Us Live At:

We have some 2019 touring plans in the works, so be sure to follow our socials to keep updated!

The Old Days Of Music Were Better Than Those Current, do you agree?:
Mm I don't know, internet probably has helped smaller bands to get to know a lot.

Variations You’d Like To Do On Any Of Your Songs:

I would love to make an acoustic version of Dead Inside, we'll probably do it eventually!

What Bands Have You Seen Live and Regretted:

Never regretted about any shows! Never seen anything terrible on stage at shows I went to.

You could have written any song in history, which would you pick:

Probably "Master of Puppets" by Metallica or "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely" by Backstreet Boys

Zoo animal that best describes the personality of your band:

I would say sloth because of Luca bi, he falls asleep literally everywhere haha.  We’re definitely not sloths on the stage though!
