Interviews: Kaiber Koi

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Metal band Kaiber Koi from UK. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We tried to work out a band name for a long time, until we decided Kaiber (A play on Kyber crystals from light sabres from Star Wars) and Koi just complemented each other really well. Not to mention a Koi fish made from kyber crystals would be amazing.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

All of us have roots in heavy music, but we are still open to absolutely anything and our creativity knows no boundaries.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Everyone apart from myself all live in a close knit area where they all grew up together.  I (Tom) joined a previous progressive metal band that Jake and Oliver were in.  After that fell through, we decided to ask Callum and Simon to join as we all wanted to do something that wasn’t just another run-of-the-mill progressive metal/tech band.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Tool, Deftones, Black Sabbath, Radiohead, Bee Gees.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Passion, the outlet for all raw emotion and frustration in our lifetime...  or maybe we all just needed an outlet for our frustrations haha!

6. Where was your last gig?

We last played a headline show at Rebellion Rock Bar in Manchester.  It was our third show and it was brilliant.

7. Where would you like to play?

Your house.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Sharing the stage with Deftones would be incredible.... but also with any bands who have a genuine passion for their art, you can’t replicate that and it’s just amazing to witness.

9. Whom not?

Any artists who are playing music for all the wrong reasons.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

The day we don’t get nerves before playing a show is the day we won’t be playing anymore.  Nerves are the driving force that are necessary for such an incredible experience!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Listening to Slipknot as a teenager was my first taste of heavy music and vocals with harsh screams, I was mesmerised. Then a few years later I heard Radiohead and I fell in love with how broad their sound was. There are so many amazing artists that have had an influence on us.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Belly button fluff. Don’t ask.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Anyone who gives us a chance is worth everything to us.

14. What do you think of our site?

Wonderful to see you helping to open up local and unsigned artists to more platforms, peace, love and complete respect to everyone at Breathing The Core!

15. Something add?

Thanks for the interview. Our debut single Archaic Wave is out now.
