Interviews: Redshift

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Progressive Metal band Redshift from UK. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

As i am a huge nerd and found the idea of red shift fascinating. The thought of seeing the lights of the most distance objects in the galaxy just gives an epic image of the universe.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

After playing in bands doing different styles we wanted to push ourselves and really experiment with all our influences put together without any restriction, so being in progressive band just felt right.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We all went to college together but in different years. We have been friends for quite a while now all doing different things and finally we formed a band and it’s been great

4. Each band member favourite band?

Probably Dream Theater for everyone but Rush are probably Jack’s all time favourite and i know Josh loves Metallica but Dream Theater are number 1 i’d say.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Inspiration can come from many sources including film scores and even world music. I try to take influence from any sources that can really evoke a feeling or create an atmosphere.

6. Where was your last gig?

The Exchange in Bristol

7. Where would you like to play?

We would love to play Techfest

8. Who would you like to support?

I think we could go down well with Between The Buried and Me

9. Who not?

Creed. Jack would love to see them play With Arms Wide Open all night though.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I would say it’s like a barrier. Once you break through it becomes easier. Sometimes the best way is to just play like you mean it and to hell what anyone else thinks, this is for you.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Rush, Devin Townsend, Gojira, Dream Theater, Opeth, Hans Zimmer too many to mention

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I was asked to write a song for someone's girlfriend and they just looked awkward and embarrassed.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Anyone who supports us in any way is pretty cool by me.

14. What do you think of our site?

Not many sites cover as much ground as you guys. It’s really easy to find new stuff and find the exact genres of what you want and there's so much content. Really cool stuff.

15. Something to add?

Thanks for speaking to us and be ready for the full album on the 26th of April and please like and share on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Spread the word, Cataclysm is coming!
