Interviews About Albums: Many Faced God - Doubt (2019)

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

It’s something new and familiar at the same time for me. Some of these songs have been several years in the making and have gone through several different edits to find the “right” result. I feel as though my various influences can be heard in different places in the album but it is also something different enough to entice people to listen to it. I’m very happy with it.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

Its not a concept album but there is a reoccurring theme in the words, being doubt. Doubt in yourself. Doubt in others. Doubt in something after life. The album isn’t even completely about overcoming the struggle. Its about being in the struggle and watching it unfold.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

Alex Parker. This has been a solo project because I’ve found it hard to hone in my creative direction when in projects with other people. I had to part ways with others for a while to find out what I really wanted to do with music and how I could acheive it. Rodrigo Garcia Salas produced the album and had a lot of great insight so in a sense we even collaborated as musicians at parts of the album.

4. If you have to pick one song, which one would you pick?

Undying. I put my absolute heart and soul into this track over the past 4 years and I feel like it perfectly captures the vision I had for it before starting the recording process.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD?

If there is what is it? For me there isn’t a specific message for this album. Its thought provoking emotional music. Writing is my outlet and how I get though the tough parts of life. So you most likely will never hear a cheerful song from Mamy Faced God.

6. Are there some lyrics that you´d love to share?

I think my favorite lyrics from the album is a part of (a)Pathetic: “Suffer today and suffocate, retaliate, infuriate You’ve shown your face but a little too late No time left to reanimate this Too fucking clear to micalculate this hateful play that complicates and shows us everything we need and waste” I think this is what comes to mind when no matter how hard you try you can’t get through to someone. It becomes frustrating, infuriating and suffocating all at the same time.

7. Which inspirations haven been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thanks specially?

There’s a select few bands that have heavily influenced me and my writing and goes as follows; Sevendust, Tool, Periphery, Gojira, Devin Townsend, Karnivool, Meshuggah, Mnemic, etc. All of the bands I grew up listening to have really had a lasting impression on me and I think I subconsciously try to replicate it.

8. Something to add?

Thank you to everyone who took the time to read this. Honestly. I truly love making music and I am ecstatic that so many of you enjoy it. There’s more exciting things to come, stay tuned.
