Interviews: El Verdadero Guerrero

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hardcore band El Verdadero Guerrero from Colombia. Check out the interview and follow the band on their  FACEBOOK PAGE

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name came from the idea of no matter what are the circumstances or your situation, your gender, your sexuality or your skin color, you are worth and you're a warrior. You can be a leader, a teacher, a master, a savior. You have to be yourself and be as helpful to others as you can. Because at the end of the day are the acts whats matter.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Basically, because we can do whatever we want in this genre, we wanted to spread this positive message through the fact that reality can be pretty hard. Also, all of us love Hardcore Punk so much, so it's like, the way we have to connect with each other and make music with this amount of passion.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, except for Pablo our guitarist, he gets in the band in 2013 but he was introducing himself to Hardcore at that time.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Kevin (Guitarist): Hatebreed, Judge, Turnstile, Gorilla Biscuits.
Andrés (Bassist): Backtrack, Terror, Agnostic Front, Sick Of It All.
Pablo (Guitarist): Comeback Kid, Wolf Down, Incendiary.
Faber (Vocalist): Grito, Obey The Brave, Stick To Your Guns.
Alexis (Drummer): Killswitch Engage, August Burns Red, The Ghost Inside.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Our life experiences with Colombia's current problems like drugs, violence, segregation, and the increasing new wave of fascism. But also, experiences about love, friendship, and positivism.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last shows were on a tour we had with our friends from El Incendio Más Largo Del Mundo, 5DMenos, En Contra De Todo, and Goliat.

7. Where would you like to act?

Literally everywhere. We want to tour as much as we can and travel the world spreading our message.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

With our favorite bands, but also, any band who has something to say. Bands like Have Heart who are back in the game. and underground bands all over the world. Music is too beautiful to not thinking about that possibility of meeting new people, new bands and new points of view.

9. Whom not?

White power bands, fascists, sexists, homophobes, racists or xenophobes. We don't like or share those kinds of ideologies and we absolutely reject those ways of thinking. Our responsibility with Hardcore Punk is to keep it political. We don't forget the roots.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We always care about our stage presence, our live sound, and the things we say between songs. Obviously, we at some point suffered from stage fright. but now is more like, anxiety to play the first riff and have some fun, we always try to do give our 100%. This is what we were born for.

For those who suffer stage fright, the best thing you can do is warm up a little before the show, jump around, exercise, also you can join the pit to let anxiety free and then, during the show, try to have as much fun as you can.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Stick To Your Guns, Billy The Kid, and New York Hardcore style bands.

Our music is fast, heavy but yet melodic.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A. Faber (Vocalist) uses a wrestling mask (that's the aesthetic of the band's name and lyrics) so, one day a guy ask us if Faber has a problem in his face because he uses the mask. That was a funny thing.

13. What do you think of your fans?

A. We really don't considerate we have fans, we have friends. and we treat them like family. they're a huge support to us, without them, this band wouldn't exist.

14. What do you think of our site?

We think is awesome. We recommend Breathing the Core for people who want to listen to new bands labeled as "Core". Is a good way to show the world new bands, that help everyone from the people to the bands.

15. Something add?

Our new album "Nuestra Esencia" is now on all streaming platforms (Spotify, Deezer, Bandcamp, iTunes and Google Play)

You can also follow us on our social media to see tour dates, videos, etc.
