Interviews: AUTOPILOT

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock band AUTOPILOT from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

It was a while ago we came up with the name. If I remember right, it was sort of describing the sound of when I play the bow on the guitar and the spacey sound I get from that.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

There’s always been energy with the genre and all the sub-genres of rock music that’s drawing me to it. Both live and recorded. The creativity of a lot of the songwriting always inspired me to write music. You don’t have to look too hard to find a great indie label putting out music from great bands.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We met at first with the common interest in playing music.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Marlon: Modest Mouse

Jordan: Starflyer 59

Jose: Frank Zappa

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

A lot of different things. There are always things going through my head that need to get out in the form of songs.

6. Where was your last gig?

Jersey Shore Festival in Seaside Heights, NJ.

7. Where would you like to act?

Lollapalooza or Coachella 8. Whom would you like to feature with? Isaac Brock 9. Whom not? I haven’t really put any thought into that. The list is long.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Yeah. I used to get really freaked before playing live. After a while, it starts to feel like a natural thing. We don’t even think about it anymore. I know a few artists who take anti-anxiety meds for performing. I don’t think I have any tips for anyone other than that rehearsal is the most important part of getting ready for a tour or live show. This can help you feel more comfortable with what you’re doing.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Modest Mouse, The Killers, War on Drugs, Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth, Elliott Smith

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I once had someone call me several times on tour wanting to write music for us. He had been to several of our shows and wouldn’t give up. I finally had to politely tell him to stop calling me.

13. What do you think of your fans?

When people enjoy the music, it makes it all worth it. Without people coming to our shows, buying records, merch, and streaming our music, we wouldn’t be able to do this.

14. What do you think of our site?

I really like the in-depth coverage and hearing about bands I might not have heard before.

15. Something add?

We will be touring in support of our new album Afterglow. Track us down online to get the tour dates.
