Interviews: Kill City Kills

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Melodic Metal/Hard Rock band Kill City Kills from Russia. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Ellis: For the band name, we've wanted something with a reckless vibe. Something killer and metal. Kill City Kills was on the top of the list.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Ellis: It was pretty natural for us to put our best effort into something we love the most.

Nikki: I don't think it was a matter of choice. This genre is mutual for us, like breathing or eating a cheeseburger.

Andrew: It flows out of us easily. We don't do anything extra - just grab our guitars and boom! Here we are.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Nikki: I know Ellis like 10 years, man. We used to play together in another band.

Ellis: That's right. I and Andrew were bandmates before KCK. And three of us are just friends like forever haha.

Andrew: I used to play with Ellis in another band. And I've been featured with Nikki in the same magazine issue, so I can say that I knew him a little before KCK haha.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Ellis: Type O Negative

Nikki: Children of Bodom

Andrew: Papa Roach

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Ellis: I think the best inspiration comes from our lives. I don't know how it works. Life experience, especially bad ones, is my crucial inspiration supply. You know, this feeling you get, when the world is coming down, but you are like a true survivor with a fist in the air haha. I also can be highly inspired by people around me and their stories.

Nikki: Lately, I'm inspired on working with new stuff by the fact that I play in KCK. It's like a self-contained system. When you enjoy the process, it becomes a true inspiration for the next steps.

Andrew: Ideas impact my head when I hear the band rehearsing from afar. I catch drum rhythm and build my drum parts around it.

6. Where was your last gig?

Nikki: We had a small set at Rock Star.

Andrew: Acoustic jam at a gloomy squat haha.

Ellis: Yeah! It was fun!

7. Where would you like to act?

Nikki: Iron Maiden support show.

Ellis: SNL

Andrew: Tokyo Dome

Ellis: That's right! Almost forgot about it! Tokyo Dome!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Nikki: Feature with Liv Sin. I always admire Liv Jagrell, I think that we are the one of a kind.

Ellis: Can I imagine the impossible feature? I hope yes. Andy Pierce of Nasty Idols. A huge inspiration and a huge loss.

Andrew: Jacoby Shadix (P.Roach) 9. Whom not?

Nikki: It's hard to say. I don't want to feature with false metal guys haha.

Ellis: No false metal, baby!

Andrew: We can make a raw bloody metal out of anything. Next!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Ellis: When I was a child, 11 y.o., I had a show for like 500-700 people in small town in Finland. I had to play an acoustic guitar and sing a song. That time I've found out that stage fright can be beaten if you imagine the crowd absolutely nude. I guess my stage fright was too confused and never bothered me again.

Nikki: I can't say that I suffer from stage fright. It tickles my nerves and I enjoy it. I think it may be the reason why everybody wants to hit the stage. If it wasn't scary, it wasn't cool.

Andrew: You have to It is necessary to understand your goals. If you're up to show off - you always be scared. If you're up to bring some crazy show an incredible emotions to the crowd, there's nothing to be afraid of. Just go and do all your best, man.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Ellis: When I was a kid, I was highly influenced by such bands as Guns N'Roses, Crue and W.A.S.P and Scandinavian rock/metal scene. After them, it was a lot of bands from various genres who inspired me.

Andrew: Motley and G N'R! That's right!

Nikki: When I was a child, I was addicted to bands like AC/DC, Deep Purple and other oldies. Old but gold haha.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Ellis: A dude asked me to sign on his girlfriend's tits. Yessir!

Nikki: Once, I was offered to discuss my underwear. It was all of a sudden and pretty weird.

Andrew: Ok. I was asked to take a photo of me in one guy's sunglasses. He collects photos of people in his sunglasses. Creepy shit.

Ellis: Best people on Earth. We salute you!

Nikki: I suppose they are the same sick motherf*ckers as we are. That's right.
