Interviews: Maven

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock band Maven from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We picked it out of a university textbook called ‘Market Mavens’. We liked the sounds of the name MAVEN so we stuck with it!

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We grew up on rock, metal, and punk of all eras but the alternative rock is the most current genre we all mutually love so it was a no brainer.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Some of us have known each other for years, our most recent member Rob we met whilst touring with MAVEN and his old band, Chasing Cadence.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Rob - Queen 

Dan - Alter bridge 

Joe - Thrice

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The things we love often inspire our music. For instance, some of the EP was written with Dans love for his newborn and his stepdaughter in mind.

6. Where was your last gig?

Brighton, a tiny little venue called a pipeline.

7. Where would you like to play?

15 days at Wembley? 8. Who would you like to support? Queen but in 1985

9. Who not?

Oasis (this answer is from Rob and does not reflect the opinion of the whole band)

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Rob gets little butterflies before every show, even though he’s played 100s but he says the day he doesn’t get them is the day he no longer cares about the outcome. A little stage fright is good, just don’t let it take over!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Queen, Metallica, story of the year, fightstar, the wedding, the foo fighters, dream theatre... the list goes on and on.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Probably to sign their ceiling, so they can be reminded of the great show they saw the night before when they wake up.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Anyone who will give our band the time of day has instant mate status.
