Behind The Tracks: Big Smile - Oscilate (Single) (2019)

Oscillate is a track about being stuck in a rut and finding our own ways to cope with being stuck there. The writing process started with the riff that Noah brought to practice one day. Cameron matched it really well with the drums and we were sold on building on that. We got the structure down pretty quickly right before we got into the studio with Seth Henderson. He helped us nail down the song stylistically and mixed it to perfection. Alex Zarek shot the video in our van and RV. We thought it was a cool idea with the main line of the chorus being “I drive 90 miles an hour just to not be stuck between.” Obviously we were not driving that fast (haha) but playing in a moving vehicle was pretty fun. Cameron was not harmed by any falling guitar amps in the van by the way.
