Interviews: Together In Tragedy
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band Together In Tragedy from Australia. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
We were just throwing out ideas of cool words and phrases and this one seemed to stand
out and stick more than the others.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
We all enjoy heavy music so it naturally just happened, wanting to make music and play
shows like the bands we grew up listening to and currently inspire us. It’s a cathartic thing
for all of us in one way or another, a way to express ourselves that other music wouldn’t
allow.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Our current bassist and guitarist did but the rest of us all met each other through the band
and members being mutual friends.
4. Each band member favorite band?
Aaron (drums) – Sworn In
Alex (vocals) – Villains
David (bass) – Architects
Michael (guitar) – Bullet For My Valentine
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
The current music lyrically was inspired by a culmination of regrets, guilt, misanthropy,
nihilism, mental health and outlook of society. It’s a way to get a lot of negativity out in a
creative and positive way. Musically we all have various influences but the overall vibe we
were going for was groove and eeriness. We didn’t want to be the heaviest band or aim to
write the heaviest breakdown. We listened to a variety of music, horror movie and video
game soundtracks during down time in the studio.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last show was down in Victoria, a good 6 hour drive interstate from where we’re from.
7. Where would you like to perform?
A tour around Australia would be sick, also visiting London to play either Brixton Academy
or Alexandra Palace.
8. Whom would you like to perform with?
Architects, Polaris, Sworn In or Counterparts.
9. Whom not?
Can’t think of anyone we wouldn’t play with, every band heavy or not is an opportunity to
bring in new fans.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat
that?
We all have and it’s something that gets a bit easier the more you perform but there’ll
always be some pre show nerves. I’d definitely suggest deep breathing, some would have
a drink or a smoke. After the first song or two you the nerves start to fall away and you
enjoy the music.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
A lot of older metalcore bands like Parkway Drive, BFMV, and Nu Metal like KoRn and
Slipknot from when we were younger made us want to pursue music in general. More
recently bands like Emmure and Darke Complex or seeing bands from home like Polaris
and Alpha Wolf blow up is inspiring.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Signing stuff and photos, nothing weird. It’s just strange to us since we’re still a small band
haha
13. What do you think of your fans?
They’re awesome, it still blows our mind a bit the amount of people who have listened to
our music or where some merch orders come from.
14. What do you think of our site?
There a lot of love for more underground bands which is exactly what this scene needs
and you guys cover pretty much every heavy genre and more which is awesome.
15. Something to add?
Stream our new extended play “Delirium” on your favorite streaming service, support your
local scene and we hope to see you at some shows in 2020. Thanks for the interview!
