Behind The Tracks: Balsam Grove - Brace Yourself (Single) (2020)

"Brace Yourself!" is a song about spiraling depression and struggling with feelings of defeat. The song was written during a dark time for the band and talks about hope for the future encompassed by positive change and the will to succeed. There are a lot of metaphors in "Brace Yourself!" that allude to a sinking ship, which is used as a literary device to describe the band's internal struggles during the time of which the song was written. The intent of the song's lyrics is to comfort and inspire others who are going through their own personal struggles to keep looking forward and to encourage positive transformation; to never give up hope. The song will be featured on the band's upcoming self-titled LP which is expected to release in summer 2020.
