Interviews: Blackcast

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band Blackcast, from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We got the band name from our first singer's broken arm. At this time we were actually going through different possibly band names. Our first singer then walked in and we noticed he was wearing a Blackcast on his arm, we thought that sounded cool so we rolled with it.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

All of us in our band has grown up with this type of music. Our musicality, skill, and technical aspects of our writing stems from the many influences we have in this genre. Metal is not your stereotypical screaming with random hitting of drums that some may say it is. To us, its the most versatile type of music there is because you can add many elements to it such as dome classical, jazz, and even r&b and hip hop in it.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No, we did not lol, first this band was formed entirely off of craigslist. Then as we started having to replace members we then went to Facebook. But as soon as we started hanging out together and really getting to know each other we started establishing a strong brotherhood and family.

4. Each band member favorite band?

We all have many fav bands. But if there was one we each had to pick it would be.

Richard (Drums)- August Burns Red

Armand (Guitars)- Periphery

Monty (Guitars)- Lamb Of God

Luis (Vox)- As I Lay Dying

Richard (Bass)- Whitechapel

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We drive each other to come up with new ideas and have input in possible new songs. We each come up with so many ideas, so we just sit down and try to take each other's ideas and interpret them into a song.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was at the Wacken Battle of the Bands at a venue called Brick by Brick which is actually owned by Jordan Mancini and Nick Hipa of As I Lay Dying

7. Where would you like to act?

Wacken Fest is the major goal right now

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We've had a chance to play with ALOT of major bands so far such as Atilla, Hatebreed, Born of Osiris, etc. The one we all definitely would like to play with is August Burns Red and Lamb of God.

9. Whom not?

There's no one really we wouldn't like to play with. We will take any opportunities we can get.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Its always gonna be nerve-racking the first time for anyone. Just stay focused on what you gotta play at first then you can work on your stage presence and performance. It's not always about jumping and headbanging, the first priority to any show is making sure your music sounds good.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

As I Lay Dying, August Burns Red, Periphery, Lamb Of God. Too many to list honestly lol

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

So far the weirdest thing for me (Richard, drummer) was a fan asked for my socks claiming that they collect their favorite drummer's sweaty socks after they see them play a show. It threw me off completely because it was the last thing I thought anyone would want from me. I reluctantly gave them to him, but it sucked because I was left sockless for the rest of the night lol.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are the absolute greatest!! I know it sounds cliche because every band may say the same but its completely true. Our fans have been nothing short of amazing and have given us complete and unconditional love and support. They are the number 1 reason why we are here now. We love every one of them and have nothing but respect for each and every one of them.

14. What do you think of our site?

Your site is quite refreshing to be completely honest. It's great to see that there are organizations such as this one that gives bands like us an avenue to share our music to the masses that we would have a hard time getting to ourselves. On top of the fact that the bands on this site are AWESOME! I highly respect the platform this site provides, my hat goes off to you!

15. Something add?

To all those hearing and sharing our music...THAN YOU SO MUCH. We appreciate every last one of you and hope you will come and support us because we have a lot more coming. Please stay healthy and safe during these crazy times. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram at blackcastmusic. Thank you for providing your platform to us and allowing us to share our music with your viewers.
