Interviews: Mohawk Bends

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the  Rock band Mohawk Bends from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name came from a bar/restaurant in Echo Park that Chris used to frequent when he was living in LA. It's right in the curve where Mohawk Rd. meets Sunset Blvd. and it just always stuck with him as a potential band name.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

The genre is sort of just what came out when we all got together. When we first started talking about the project, we actually were thinking it would go in more of a surf/rock direction- but the more we've jammed the more garagey it's gotten.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Chris and Colin were playing together in a band called Denizens, which booked shows frequently with Alex's band First Time In Color. We ended up finding Jonathan after the three of us got together!

4. Each band member favourite band?

Chris: The Last Shadow Puppets

Alex: Hippo Campus

Colin: Foals

Jon: Iron Maiden

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

It could really be anything. Could be something someone says, or a song could inspire us to want to play something similar, or just some passing interaction at work or in the world. At the end of the day, we mostly just write songs we know we'll enjoy playing for a while.

6. Where was your last gig?

Stubbs Indoor stage on Red River St.

7. Where would you like to act?

Glastonbury. Fingers crossed for next year....

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Josh Homme or Alex Turner

9. Whom not?

DJ Khaled

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I don't think so. We've been doing this long enough without being booed off stage to where we're pretty confident in our abilities. For those that do, just know that an audience is a lot kinder than you may think, so long as you're not a complete asshole on stage.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Queens of the Stone Age, Spoon, Cage The Elephant, to name a few.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Our set time.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love them. They're mostly friends and family at this point, but we're starting to have new people attend our shows who have heard of us through the grapevine. They all seem pretty chill!

14. What do you think of our site?

Well, I think if this interview is put between reviews of tracks called "Wings of Agony" and "Suspension of Disbelief", we're gonna stick out like a sore thumb!

We're probably the farthest thing from metal on this site! *sweats*
