Interviews: GORLVSH

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hardcore/Metal band GORLVSH, from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Isaac: Hi, I’m Isaac, singer in Gorlvsh, and I’ll be your guest for tonight. “Lush” is one of Noah’s favorite words (I know, he is a weirdo) and we wanted to add something more heavy before it. “Gore” was perfect, and it became Gorlvsh, with a “v” instead of a “u” because of Black Metal.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Isaac: We didn’t want to play a genre, but wanted to get a specific sound, close to Powerviolence. Nick and Noah were really found of Death From Above 1979 and Lightning Bolt and, on my side, I wanted to add something that doesn’t sound too cliché on the vocals. Here we are.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Isaac: No, we met for this band.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Isaac: It’s hard to name one, so I’ll say Gojira, Deftones and Neurosis. Nick and Noah can fuck off!

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Isaac: Noah and Nick really jam together based on riffs they bring. Noah likes to deconstruct stuff and play with tempo, rhythm and shit. On my side, I read a lot of decadent novels, and the world news is enough to write lyrics that will depict the state of our depraved society.

6. Where was your last gig?

Isaac: We played in Turbo Haus, in Montréal, last time. It’s a great place, full of great people, and we hope they would recover quickly after this COVID crisis.

7. Where would you like to act?

Isaac: In a big festival like Hellfest or a cozy stupid place like a school gymnasium, exactly like this amazing Converge show at the beginning of their craziness.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Isaac: So many great bands to play with! Nails, Converge, Mastodon, Car Bomb, too many names!

9. Whom not?

Isaac: A ska band. Hate that.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Isaac: Never really, because we enter a specific mood where we are the three of us, enjoying playing together. The public becomes an extra pleasure in this bro experience. Nothing beats the real brotherhood.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Isaac: Death from Above 1979 (both), Lightning Bolt (Both) Car Bomb (Noah), Deftones (Isaac), Man is the Bastard (Nick)

12. What do you think of our site?

Isaac: I didn’t know it! It’s pretty good! It looks like a mix between an encyclopedia and it has great ideas like the section Behind the artwork.

13. Something add?

Isaac: Thank you for the interview! Stay tuned to our Bandcamp, Instagram and Facebook page for more to come. We can’t wait to share our first album with you guys!
