Interviews: Heel Of Achiles

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore/Progressive Metal/Groove band Heel Of Achilles, from Ireland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We had our fist gig coming up, with original name being Bermuda. We quickly realised that there is another metal band with that name, so we settled for Dáire’s Heel of Achilles which he came up with whilst watching Troy.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We all found a mutual interest for Metalcore and Deathcore acts as teens. We started covering songs by Parkway Drive and Chelsea grin. Over time our taste in music has matured into adulthood along with our sound as a band.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes – We all used to hang about parks and drink as teenagers. Daire and Stephen had already become friends before over their mutual taste in music soon bringing Patrick in the band from the same friend group for Vocals. Some of us knew Lee and Tom from before from playing in different local bands.

4. Each band member favorite band?

None of us have a sole favourite band but here are some of our top picks: Patrick – Heart of a Coward, Dáire – Monuments, Lee – Foo Fighters, Tom – Korn, Stephen – Architects.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Everything and anything.

6. Where was your last gig?

Headliner at Fibber Magee’s, Dublin Jul 2019.

7. Where would you like to act?

We would love to play at various festivals such as Download, and Techfest. We would love the opportunity to play alongside bands that have influenced us.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We’d love to have Jamie Graham or Stone Behzadi from Behind Blue Eyes.

9. Whom not?

Anyone that plays a 6-string guitar.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Some of us still experience it to this day. We recommend just focusing on the music and getting lost in it. The most important thing we think is to just enjoy yourself.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Parkway Drive inspired us the most in our early days both in terms of style and drive. In recent years we’ve been trying to find our own style more.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Feet pics.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Its kinda hard to tell who’s a fan and who’s a friend at this point but we love them all anyway.

14. What do you think of our site?

Very professional looking, great that it gives a platform for local bands to speak on.

15. Something add?

We just released a music video for our track Oblivion and our debut album Idle Hands, Idle Minds is now available on all majors streaming platforms.
