Behind The Artworks: Sean Nolan And The Heartmakers - The Machineries Of Joy (2020)

After the release of their new EP, “The Machineries of Joy”, back in May 2020, Sean Nolan and The Heartmakers are now here to share more details on its artwork. Check out what vocalist Sean Nolan had to say below!

“Inspired by some of the best band logos, I wanted to try and come up with something memorable. After some trial and error, I drew up what’s come to be known as the “screamy bird”. I’ve changed it a little over the years, but the core design has stayed the same. Thus far each of our releases has incorporated it in some fashion.

After we finished recording “The Machineries of Joy”, Matt (bass guitar) approached me with his rendition of it, knowing I’d been trying to figure out what to do in regard to the artwork for the record. Needless to say, I loved what he’d come up with. Matt’s got a really great style that I think lends itself well to the sound of the record.

As far as the layout goes, I took what he gave me, edited it a bit and added all the text. All in all, I’m really happy with the way it turned out.” - Sean Nolan
