Interviews: Pyrrhic

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Extreme Metal band, Pyrrhic, from Norway. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We came up with the name «Pyrrhic» because of the cool meaning behind the phrase «Pyrrhic Victory». It means «won at too great a cost to have been worthwhile for the victor.» Not that it applies to us in real life, as this band definitely be worthwhile for everyone involved, but it sounded cool! Heh heh.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We play extreme metal because we like it hard and fast! We sprinkle it with a lot of melody also because we are heavily influenced by the 70’s and 80’s hardrock/metal bands.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

More or less, yes! We are all from the local music scene in the south of norway, so we’ve been aware of each other for years.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Roger (guitarist) says: 70’s Genesis!

Sebastian (guitarist) says: Wintersun

Emil (vocals) says: not sure. Omega Deathspell

Ole «Hellbent» (bass) says: Cryptopsy

Geir Øivind (Drums) says: The Beatles

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Satan…… ……. …… ….. and the love for music and creativity!

6. Where was your last gig?

Well, we’re a brand new, box fresh, mint conditioned, wholly new band, so we have our debut gig in two weeks, at the Southern Discomfort Metal Festival in Kristiansand Norway!

7. Where would you like to act?

All over the world. From the smallest pub-stages to the largest festivals!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

There are so many. We would love to play shows with bands like Mayhem, Enslaved, Cryptopsy, Dimmu Borgir etc…

9. Whom not?

I can’t think of anyone we wouldn’t be happy to share stages with.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Yes, I (Geir Øivind) have actually suffered from stage fright. I am a drummer, but I also play guitar. I am not nervous when I play the drums on stage, but when i play the guitar on stage I am really nervous. You can always drink yourself brave enough, but then you won’t play your best. So the best thing to do is just dive right into it, don’t overthink it, just go and show the crowd who’s boss!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

It has to be those bands that started the whole metal thing, from Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, to Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Motorhead!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Oh, we couldn’t possibly tell you that!

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love each and every one of them. We have gotten a lot of very positive response on the release of our first single, and we are ecstatic over it. Thank you all so very much!

14. What do you think of our site?

Love it! And it is really honorable of you to focus on the fires like you do! Well done!

15. Something add?

We will release our debut EP on September 7th 2020, so head over to Spotify or iTunes on that date. Have a few beers and bang your head all night! Thank you!
