Interviews: Enigma Experiencie

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Heavy Rock band, Enigma Experience, from Sweden/Norway. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Dango: A friend of mine once called me an ’Enigma' because I give such a different impression whilst on stage as a super energetic ’rockstar’ and at home in soft ’normal’ mode, ha ha. So then I thought Enigma Experience would fit as it from the beginning wasn’t really a band more like a new thing I didn’t know if it was a solo project or would be like a new band, meaning to experience me, with also of course a little reference to the Jimmy Hendrix Experience. He was also a prophet of rock music just like I am.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Dango: Never really thought about genre, just made songs that came out of my mind. The ’Question Mark’ album is very diverse I don’t think it is one genre it’s a mix of different rock styles to me. What genre do you think we play?

Maurice: I just sang on Dango’s songs. I had no free will!

Pezo: I connect with Dango in kind of a spiritual level, we have a special musical connection. If he makes the base for a song I wanna play it and enhance it with my drums from another dimension.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Dango: Pezo and I have known each other for 20 years or so, Maurice I met in Oslo last November when his band at that time opened up the night for Truckfighters. I got seriously impressed by his singing so basically recruited him right away. Luckily he also turned out to be a nice guy, ha ha.

Maurice: I had no idea what I got roped into, but I’m very happy and proud with how the album turned out. And if Dango and I had not hit it off like we had known each other for years maybe we would not have ended up making this awesome album. So even though we didn’t know each other, it was, for me, not an issue at all.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Dango: This is a tricky question I don’t think many can answer with just one band. Truckfighters , haha. Historically I’d say Soundgarden, TOOL, Pearl Jam, Nirvana but nowadays I listen mostly to bands on Fuzzorama Records as I kind of get into the music a lot when we work a release. That would be *ASTEROID *DEVILLE *ELDEN *TRUCKFIGHTERS *SKRAECKOEDLAN *SWAN VALLEY HEIGHTS *VALLEY OF THE SUN *WE HUNT BUFFALO *WITCHRIDER

Maurice: I’m not really a favourite band kinda guy. I think that whole idea of one favourite is a weird concept. I like all kinds of music that I feel something when I listen to, regardless of genre.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Dango: Life on a very close and personal level and the world with it's big issues. Anything that feels relevant I guess. The lyrics on this album goes from modern age reflections of Social Media, of Corruption to more personal thought and feelings like the difficulty to find balance in life, how the mind can turn into a prison, how the world can be seen in different way with different minds.

Maurice: The words kinda just flow out of me when I tap into the moment. I usually don’t know what I’m writing about until I’m done with the lyrics. I only wrote one lyric for this album, but that came about in one take.

6. Where was your last gig?

Dango: In my imagination. This is a new band we haven’t had gigs yet.

7. Where would you like to act?

Dango: The moon!

Maurice: Yeah, first band on the moon sounds about right.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Dango: Dave Grohl is probably the only childhood hero still alive that I haven’t even seen on stage so I guess I’d pick one of his projects. I do prefer him as a drummer though.

Maurice: Wow, yeah. I would love to work with Dave. And I want to do a duet with Tina Turner.

Pezo: Whomever wants to play with us

9. Whom not?

Dango: Don’t care so much about that. Every band has the right to do their own thing. Of course we wouldn’t want to play with anyone that has extreme right wing / fascist opinions.

Pezo: Inte those who don’t wanna play with us

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Maurice: I would have to say that if you can find a way to harness the fright and use it to your advantage you’ll soon start to feel different. If I have a feeling that is trying to dominate me before I go on, I bring it with me and pour it all out from stage. Overcoming that fear and becoming yourself in extreme (not the band, lol) feels better than mostly anything I’ve done yet. And start in front of a mirror. Then in front of a mirror with a friend present. If you can do that., you can do anything. Get out there and be free!!

Pezo: Own the stage, make it your room & be might amazing. Believe in yourself and your abilities, take everything in and enjoy the whole experience. Feel the connection everywhere in the room to the guys in the door and beynd. Let the universe shine through. Enjoy and let go!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Dango: The 90’s grunge bands + Dinaosur Jr + Kyuss and early Queens of the Stone Age

Maurice: I think I’m influenced by what is going on in the moment, but I’m weak for 70’s and 90’s for sure.

Pezo: TOOL / a perfect circle / Sunny Day Real Estate / Refused

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Dango: Don't remember, but once on a Truckfighters show in New York I threw my disgusting, sweaty from like 10 shows, shorts out in the audience. Then as I went outside to get some air after the gig I saw a girl walking out with the shorts holding them like they were the most holy item in the whole universe. That was a bit weird.

Maurice: something weird sexually that I didn’t do and can’t speak of….

Pezo: To be normal. But no one have asked me that yet.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Dango: Appreciation!

Maurice: They are the fruit of labour. We are nothing without them.

Pezo: Love music lovers.

14. What do you think of our site?

Dango: It sucks!

Maurice: there are sights…?

Pezo: Good You keep up the good vibes for music!

15. Something add?

Pezo: Nothing is a good album with Meshuggah Though Chaosphere is my favorite So I got something to add more then nothing. Also that I started to answer in Swedish is now a word puzzle to solve & a good opportunity to learn our Swedish language.

Dango: May the fuzz be with you all. The prophet has spoken.
