Interviews: Ra

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock band, Ra, from USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

My favorite artist is Sting. When I was young I was obsessed. He has always written songs that either mention or referenced the moon… Walking on the Moon, Moon Over Bourbon Street, Sister Moon… etc. I wanted to be like him so I started writing songs that had sun references. In 1998 we got the end title song for the movie The Rage- Carrie 2. I had to choose a name and I knew that Ra was the sun god so we went with it.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

I just felt driven by hard rock and metal. Metallica, Korn, Soundgarden, Queensryche, Mr. Bungle and Limp Bizkit were big influences.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No, we all met as a matter of finding the right people for the project.

4. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I love modern pop. Especially stuff that’s moody and vibey but anything with an amazing melody wins with me.

5. Where was your last gig?

Shiprocked 2020

6. Where would you like to act?

In an action film as the villain.

7. Whom would you like to feature with?

I really like the way Brent from Shinedown has evolved. He was always a good singer but I think he has gone to a new level recently.

8. Whom not?

Haha… nice try.

9. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Stage fright for me has only been an issue if I don’t feel prepared. So be prepared!

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

The Police, Peter Gabriel, Metallica

11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Sometimes you get people who want you to sing at their wedding or so… those can be awkward conversations.

12. What do you think of your fans?

We always knew we had passionate followers over the years but with the new release it’s been truly overwhelming. The amount of people coming out of the woodwork with high levels of energy has been staggering. The love has been felt.

13. What do you think of our site?

http://www.breathingthecore.com/ At the moment, there is a Koala on your home page so clearly you are good people.

14. Something you'd like to add?
