Interviews: Aaron Holt

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal artist, Aaron Holt from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Since my own musical journey started as a solo project I didn’t feel the need to slap a band name on the little demos I was recording. The demos compiled turned into an album though, then I felt obligated to stick with it since really I was doing a majority of the songwriting and leg work for the projects anyway. That’s a little less true nowadays where we are definitely writing in more of a collaborative way.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I’ve always been fascinated with heavier music, for me, it all started when I borrowed a Megadeth CD from the local library. Holy Wars was the first song on that album, and I just remember how evil it sounded. I loved every second of it.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I met TJ playing alongside him in various groups in college, he studied percussion and I studied trumpet and music education. Sujit though, I met solely when I was looking for a vocalist to sing on the new album.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Dream Theater for TJ and I 100% Sujit would probably stick to Soundgarden.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

For the music, it’s just chasing that huge, catchy, and epic sounding track. For lyrics though we like to pull a lot from our personal lives and tell stories or in some cases vent about things that have happened to us. There are a couple of songs that are more fantasy-driven though.

6. Where was your last gig? Where would you like to act?

We’ve never played, but if we did I would want it to be at this really cool place in Warrenton called Gloria's.

7. Whom would you like to feature with?

There’s a great guitarist I admire called Andrew Stanton who’s offered to have his guitar solos and stuff on people’s songs. I think it'd be really cool to have him perform a bit on one of my songs.

9. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

All the classic tricks like ïmagine everyone in their underwear” are pretty useless, for me, it’s a matter of just preparing the best you can and feeling good about yourself beforehand. I usually get shakes if I'm super nervous, but eating a good breakfast or snack a few hours before performance helps a lot with stuff like that for me.

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

Dream Theater is probably 100% our biggest inspiration for song material, gear, writing, tones, etc. you’ll hear 100% mesa boogie tone on this new album.

11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

One time I got asked to play gooba, which was a trending hip-hop song I guess that had a guitar part in it. It was like 2 notes, I just thought it was more of an insult than a request.

12. What do you think of your fans?

I think my fans are pretty cool, a few of them share my music around when news comes around, and they listen regularly. A couple of them definitely have a favorite song.

13. What do you think of our site?

It looks like you guys go to great lengths to find the more obscure unheard-of music, which I think is really cool because I do consider myself in that realm.

14. Something add?

I see you like to talk about albums track by track, and album artwork. I feel we have a lot to say about each song, and definitely about the artwork. Everything we do is 100% independent so it would be really cool to get the opportunity to talk through some of those things.
