Interviews: Alien Feelings

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock band, Alien Feelings from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

I (Josh.) got the idea for the band name from an old work colleague. One night whilst working she said in regards to another co worker “I hate her and I don’t hate anyone, it’s such an Alien feeling.” I instantly thought that’s a great name for a band, so I stored it away in my mind. When the time came to name the band, Alien feelings just felt like the right fit, the lads agreed and there ya have it.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Our music is a culmination of all of our separate musical tastes really. We differ on sub genres but there’s this huge space in which we’ve got room to explore and develop a sound which is to each of our likings. I’ll write a song but then we’ll craft it together and that’s what makes it Alien feelings. What we share is a passion for music and a dislike for the charts. We’re just four lads from the middle of nowhere that write and perform their own material. The industry needs a bit more of that going forward if you ask me.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, we’ve all know each other for years. Me and Ryan used to skip classes and get high in school. Tim and Dale have been best mates for years. Ryan and Tim used to work together and me and Dale have recorded demos together and have been on the same bill a couple of times when I was a solo artist and he was in other bands.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Josh: The Beatles

Dale: Pink Floyd

Tim: Slayer

Ryan: Greenday

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

To be honest, I don’t really know. It can be anything. It doesn’t always happen the same way. Sometimes I’m able to catch lightening in a bottle and can have a song down from start to finish in no time at all. Other times I’ve really got to work for it by trying out different vocal melodies, lyrics, stuff like that. For example, I wrote Scream in about an hour. Once I had the opening line it just wrote itself. Town that made me on the other hand took a couple of weeks I think. There’s no exact formula, it’s just trial and error.

6. Where was your last gig?

Studio 2 on Parr street in Liverpool supporting The drifting classrooms. It was a really good night one that we look back on now extra fondly due to it being the last gig we got to do before Korma-17 wiped the smiles from our faces with a shitty wet wipe.

7. Where would you like to perform?

At this rate we’d settle for anywhere! We just want to get back out there and play live again in front of an audience! On that note actually, if there’s any venues, pubs, clubs or kebab houses out there that are looking to book some live music, then feel free to get in touch! We want to make sure we’ve got a ton of gigs ready to go post covid. We’ll play anywhere. We just want to go fucking mad.

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

I’d love to perform with The who, just because I think it would work vocally and they were my dads favourite band.

9. Whom not?

Ed Sheeran, because I’m sick to death of people saying that I look like him. Listen, and listen very carefully people... Not all gingers look alike.... You may think that we’re all carbon copies of the Sheeman, but that’s just racist. Still, in a few years time they’ll be saying that I look like Mick Hucknall, so I shouldn’t complain. Olly Murs too, I’d rather shit in my hands and clap than ever be within 100 metres of that ITV ass rimming mannequin.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I think it’s completely normal to get stage fright. You’d have to be a psychopath to not at least get a little nervous before a show, so don’t worry about it. A couple of drinks beforehand can work wonders too and yes I mean just a couple people! Although we’ve all gone a bit too far from time to time.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Josh: The Jesus and Mary chain, Nirvana, The Who, The Pogues and The Beatles.

Dale: Pink Floyd,The Who,The Beatles, The Kinks and Maccabees

Tim: Reel big fish, Slayer, Kingdom come and in flames

Ryan: Greenday, Blink 182, NOFX, Rancid, Reel big fish and Operation ivy.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I don’t think we have any fans, or if we do we’ve not met any of them yet. Dale got asked for a photo once when we played The Tivoli in Buckley though by these two middle aged women, they got me to take the picture then turned around and said that they didn’t want one with me.... So yeah, that’s my only experience with fans.

13. What do you think of your fans?
