Interviews: Hounds

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band, Hounds from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name H.O.U.N.D.S was something that has been in our heads for a long time. back when we first formed as Dead Town Nothing it was a name that was considered, and in fact a song title also, which at the time was "Release The Hounds". When we decided to reform the band after our hiatus, we took the decision to evolve the band and so the name H.O.U.N.D.S came up for discussion and we felt it was the right time and the right fit as part of our evolution.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We wanted to play the genre of Hardcore, because we have all had influence from this genre of music growing up, as well as modern day metal genres, and for us as a band we like the balls out approach that hardcore has, and for live performances it can really hit hard. We over time have evolved the music slightly and have added modern day twists and elements into the style to keep it fresh and not stagnant.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes we all have known each other before the band, some of us went to school together and have just been mates and have played in other bands together and separately.

4. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Our inspiration for our songs has always been "us" as in Human beings and the world we live in. We are fascinating creatures and actually quite complex. So as a song subject we are ideal. our main focus is on actions and consequences of people’s actions.

5. Where was your last gig?

Our last show was just before we went on our hiatus back in 2016. We haven’t yet played live as H.O.U.N.D.S, but we really cannot wait to do so.

6. Where would you like to play?

As well as the UK, we would love to go and tour the US and Europe. Our largest fan base is there and we really want to give them our live show!!!

7. Who would you like to support?

We will support any band no matter how big or small. but i guess one band that we would love to support would be Terror or Lion Heart.

8. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

No, we get nervous, but it’s more of a buzz and excitement of playing live. but a tip for beginners is to take a deep breath before you go on, have confidence in yourself and your talent, and just enjoy the ride!

9. What bands have inspired you the most?

Terror, Brutality Will Prevail, Lion Heart, Killswitch Engage to name a few but there are loads, but what we don't do is copy the bands that inspire us, we try to do things our way and write music without being an imitation.

10. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

So far we have had an autograph request from a fan in Germany but we wouldn’t say that’s weird, and from a very dear fan of ours in the USA we were asked what a mince pie was..... so guess what? we have sent him some to try!

11. What do you think of your fans?

We love our fans!!! One thing that is really important to us, is our fans. We try very hard to interact with all our fans on social media and talk to them regularly through comments, messages and on Instagram Live. Our view is that without them, then there is no band. If a person who listens to your music or comes to a show, or even buys merch from you can take the time to say Hi, or tell you a bit about them or that they like your music, then the very least we can do as a band is to say thank you and engage with them. A Thank you / hi back takes two mins to do and it is really important to us. They give us their time so we should with no doubt give them ours. That will never change for us.

12. What do you think of our site?

We love it.

13. Something to add?

Thank you to all our fans, for their support and kindness. WE know how difficult it is at the moment for everyone around the world, and its truly humbling that despite the struggles we all face, that our fans still support us in whatever way they can. THANK YOU!
