Interviews: Areis

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hardcore/Post-Hardcore/Black Metal band, Areis from France. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We always wanted a French or Occitan name to have a trace of our roots. (Occitan us the ancient language of our region: Occitania, located in the south of France). We found a medieval Occitan dictionary and found this word, which is short and means something like “to raise”, even though it is difficult to translate in English.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We have been playing in more technical deathcore / death-metal bands before and we wanted to play more straightforward music with a dark atmosphere. Something fun to play live!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We’ve been super good friends for many years and played in different local bands that shared the stage a lot.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Impossible to choose one but for the sake of the interview we will !

Paul: Dissection

Antoine: Heart Of A Coward

Michaël: Converge

Pablo: The Black Dahlia Murder

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We find inspirations in the struggles of the human mind but also in our region’s culture and stories.

6. Where was your last gig?

Unfortunately, we did not play one yet because of the COVID situation that put on hold any show since March 2020...

7. Where would you like to act?

Everywhere!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

It is a bit soon to talk about these stuff, but sharing the stage with Code Orange would be pretty sick!

9. Whom not?

Oh wow, no idea really.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We all suffered from stage fright many times ! The only thing that helps is to play a lot of shows and practice all the time to gain confidence.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

We took inspirations in some black metal bands such as Dissection or Der Weg Einer Freiheit, some hardcore bands: Code Orange or Walls Of Jericho, some old school melodic death metal like early In Flames records and blended it all together!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We only have played in small local bands so we don’t have any weird fan story to tell, sorry!

13. What do you think of your fans?

I’ll tell you when we have some hahaha

14. What do you think of our site?

I did not know your website until now and it seems pretty cool, nice clean design.

15. Something add?

Thank you for having us and check our first single, and later, our album !
