Interviews: Skyborn

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal band, Skyborn from Germany. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We wanted our band name not to be associated with hatred, since we were fortunate enough not to grow up in circumstances where you experience anger and violence on a daily basis, so it is not a message we want to convey. Apart from that, new listeners can get an unbiased first impression of our music this way.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We are driven by the desire to constantly improve the technical skills on our instruments – this is a common divider despite the difference of our musical influences. Also, having a metal fanbase is the best you can imagine, they are all very open-minded and heartful fellas!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Juli, Luke and Paul knew each other since school and started to make music together at the age of 6. Edu moved here from Ecuador for his studies and joined in 2015. It was love at first sight: he carried a bottle of Jager as welcome gift – how can you beat that?

4. Each band member favourite band?

Our favorite bands are: Wintersun (Juli), Metallica (Luke), Children of Bodom (Paul) and Dream Theater (Edu).

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Listening to other bands live at festivals and concerts in general, and some artists like Alexi Laiho or Dimebag Darrell in particular. Overall, we want to write songs that are hard to play, but easy to listen to.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was at the Legends Lounge near Munich.

7. Where would you like to act?

We would like to play on festivals, preferably big ones, such as Summerbreeze or Wacken. But as long as our fans join us and we are able to play loud and hard, we play everywhere.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Our dream is to support one of the big bands one day, such as Metallica, the Foo Fighters, Ensiferum or Devildriver.

9. Whom not?

As long as the chemistry is good and we have the feeling that our fanbases will get along well, we’re open to play with everyone – also with bands from different genres.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

When we started playing gigs, we were all pretty nervous, now it’s more a sense of general excitedness. We are human, so errors, both musical and technical, are somewhat inevitable. When they happen, you must take them in good part.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Among others, we have been inspired by Metallica, which was our first real metal listening experience and Children of Bodom – the lyrics to one of our songs spawned in the aftermath of a concert we saw.

12. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We get panties thrown at us on a regular basis, and sometimes they get meddled with the guitars. One day, a girl wanted hers back. Who would want a slip back after throwing it on stage? Maybe she was trying to get in touch with us on a deeper level…

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love them, they have been very supportive during the years. Also, it’s nice to see a great part of our fans following us to every gig.

14. What do you think of our site?

We like that it covers a lot of genres, yet the website appears very well organized. It seems like a great opportunity for upcoming bands to get recognized.

15. Something add?

Thanks to our fans and supporters, we hope to be back out there soon and play the songs of our album in public!
