Interviews: CEDARS

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Electronic Rock band, CEDARS from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

There's a story in the Old Testament about cedar trees being cut down and moved far from where they belong but they ended up thriving and expanding in their new home. They didn't choke out the native plants where they were moved, instead they grew along side them. This story brought to mind the fact that differences between people don't have to cause the rifts we seem to make as humans when we have differences. Trees are clearly much smarter than we are.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

It brings in so many of the bands we cut our musical teeth listening to. This is the most authentic fit for each of us. It blends industrial elements with things that feel organic. We write with the concept of chiaroscuro at the forefront.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, some of us have been friends since our teens.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Sandeigh Kennedy - PJ Harvey

Chris Rodriguez - Foo Fighters

Chris Santos - Passafire

Drew Heaton - Mutemath

Kaleb Perez - Circa Survive

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Making music together has been the best inspiration of all. We love to tell authentic, raw stories, especially about things no one wants to talk about. 6. Where was your last gig? Houston 7. Where would you like to act? Wembley Stadium

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

NIN, Royal Blood, Chelsea Wolfe, Dream Wife...who else? Maybe someone reading this.

9. Whom not?

Donald Trump or Nickleback

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

S - I've been playing on stages since I was a little girl, it's still scary. I still get nervous and feel sick to my stomach. But I just remind myself, they're all people, just like me.
