Interviews: MUTANT BLAST

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the  Death Metal band MUTANT BLAST from Finland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their  FACEBOOK PAGE. 

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Toni: I was watching Cannibal Corpse document from Youtube and I got an idea.. guys liked it a lot!

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Toni: The idea to play death ‘n’ roll metal with heavy cracked guitar sounds came from our bassist Julle. And the idea still seems awesome!

ES: As usual, I just played what the guys told me to.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes. Toni, Tomi, and Juha have played in a thrash metal band called Chaos Creation together. And even before that, there were some bands in distant history(Nailgunner, Botnia, etc.). Toni and ES have played together in Scorpions tribute band called Dynamite.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Toni: Iron Maiden

Tomi: Black Sabbath has been a favourite since my teens but I listen to many genres and music.

ES: Too many to mention, but mostly something that’s done a couple of decades ago.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Toni: Just love of good riffs and melodies. Love of METAL.

Tomi: Inspiration comes and goes. First the music, then melodies, then lyrics. Themes range from current events to movies.

6. Where was your last gig?

Tomi: This band has not been on gigs. My latest one was on 1st august 2020 @ Imatra with a Popeda tribute act Rokkikone.

ES: Unfortunately we haven’t had the chance to play any gigs yet due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but we surely look forward to playing as many gigs as possible in the near future.

7. Where would you like to act?

Toni: Everywhere where are metal maniacs! Maybe in some middle Europe would be a great place to start.

ES: In a gory horror movie, for instance, Mutant Blast 2.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Toni: Kreator, Testament, Municipal Waste, The Crown.. And some younger names also. Let say Insanity Alert from Austria.

ES: Absolutely with legendary Finnish singer Kari Tapio if it was possible.

9. Whom not?

ES: There are no such entities.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Toni: Not really. Practice well and a couple of beers are ok for relaxing the mind before the show. But don’t drink too much and not absinthe(I tried ones's and my playing was not super accurate).

ES: Hasn’t everyone? The best tip is to drink enough beer prior to the gig. 

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Toni: Check out the playlist from our Spotify page: “Mutant Blast highly recommends”. There is a lot of answers.

Tomi: Metallica with melodies, harmonies, and songwriting in general.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We haven’t seen any of our fans yet. But of course, we strive to fulfill all of their desires.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Fucking great taste of music!

14. What do you think of our site?

It looked quite nice. Lots of interesting stuff.
