Interviews: CONDEMNED TILL DAWN

We have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore/Death Metal band
CONDEMNED TILL DAWN from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Tim: I remember Nate saying he was reading a newspaper article and saw the word condemned in it and then Condemned Till Dawn came to him which also reminded him of a video game that is a favorite of his and myself.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

It’s what we enjoy listening to and writing music for this genre just feels natural. Melodic death metal can be both beautifully melodic and aggressive and heavy at the same time.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Nate, Ian & Tim: We met each other at different points in high-school and decided to jam some Metallica songs together one day and it felt good playing together and decided to form a band.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Tim: The Black Dahlia Murder

Emilio: Venom

Nate: At The Gates

Ian: Metallica

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Tim: It depends on some songs I’m inspired by what I could be feeling at the time others a movie might inspire me other times a song that Ian or Nate writes and shows the band will inspire me.

Emilio: Horror movies and the macabre are huge influences on my songwriting. If I were to think of a songwriter that influences me the most it would probably be Chuck Schuldiner.

Nate: My bandmates, they are all such amazing songwriters.

Ian: Stuff sounds good and then we play it.

6. Where was your last gig?

The last gig we played a sold-out headliner The Rebel Lounge in Phoenix, Arizona, United States.

7. Where would you like to act?

Emilio: I would like to act in a Netflix series. I’ve always thought I might not be terrible at acting.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Nate: Anyone who would be willing to have us. At The Gates

Emilio: I would love to feature with Fernanda Lira from Nervosa and Crypta. She sings and plays with so much passion on stage I have a lot of respect for her.

9. Whom not?

Emilio: No one specifically bit if it doesn’t feel right then I wouldn’t want to force it. 1. I would not want to feature with Doja Cat.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Tim: Every show I get nervous beforehand sometimes it’s worse than others. My advice is just to talk to bandmates about how you’re feeling getting stuff out vocally helps relieve any stress or worries. A beer or two before a show helps calm the nerves but you don’t want to overdo it or you’ll play sloppy.

Emilio: I don't think I’ve suffered from stage fright rather than just be incredibly anxious to start our set. I think it’s easy to confuse the two. Some advice I can give us is just to tell yourself you’re not nervous you're excited because most of the time when the set starts it all goes away and you do use it on the show. And also to of course know the material haha

Nate: Yes, you just have to be confident in yourself and get up there and do it.

Ian: I've had lots of experience on stage since band class in elementary school so not as much now, like Emilio said sometimes you get a little anxious sometimes right before about logistical stuff but it's different than stage fright.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Tim: The bands that inspired me the most would have to be Metallica, Trivium, As I Lay Dying and The Black Dahlia Murder.

Emilio: Bands that inspired me the most are Sodom, Death, Venom, and At The Gates

Nate: At The Gates, Trivium, Equilibrium, and many others

Ian: Metallica, Megadeth, Gojira, Evile, and many more

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nate: Sign my boobs, but she was like 70 - Nate

13. What do you think of your fans?

Tim: They’re awesome they make me want to play harder and give the most energy during a show that I can.

Emilio: I love our fans it feels good to know what your doing is reaching other people and is relatable. It’s to the point that if you listen to CTD we are friends and I’ll buy you a beer if I’m not broke

Nate: No fans, just family and friends who support us. Every fan is family

Ian: When any fan comes up to us and says how much they liked the show that makes it worth it all for me.

14. What do you think of our site?

Emilio: The Wormhole site is cool! I’m studying computer science tho so I think I could make it a little better.

Nate: It’s a great label!

15. Something to add?

We want to thank wormhole for giving us the opportunity of get more out in the world and gain new friends and fans.
