Interviews: Suspyria

We have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Metal band
Suspyria from Australia. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band name originally came from the short story Suspiria de Profundis by Thomas de Quincey. It means sighs from the depths. Our guitarist Mitchell Black came up with the name and had been sitting on it for a year prior to the formation of the band.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We all grew up listening to a wide variety of rock and metal. It was only natural that we combined our influences to create our unique melodic heavy sound together.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We all met each other through the band’s formation.

4. Each band members favourite band?

Mitchell Black; Avenged Sevenfold Terence Stevens; Breaking Benjamin Chris Viper; Amity Affliction Beau Grech; Architects

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The inspiration comes from the need for self-expression, we write music to say how we feel in more than just words. To evoke emotion and connect to people.

6. Where was your last gig?

Wrangler Studios in Melbourne, Australia.

7. Where would you like to play?

A huge dream for us would be to play at Brixton Academy in London.

8. Who would you like to support?

We would love to support either Breaking Benjamin or Rise Against in the future.

9. Who not?

None at this stage.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We’ve all suffered from stage at points before a show, the biggest tip is having a positive mindset before the show. Using that energy for excitement over anxiety.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

My Chemical Romance, Parkway Drive, Breaking Benjamin, Guns n’ Roses the list goes on and on. So many different bands and the stories behind their successes and failures have inspired us on our journey as an up-and-coming band.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We’ve had weird requests online for our guitarist to live in random people’s houses and play the guitar for them like some performing monkey.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love the support our fans have shown us so far. It means so much to us when we see people wearing our T-shirts and connecting to our music.

14. What do you think of our site?

We think it’s awesome to see artists and musicians being supported by websites like yours, on their journeys through the music industry.

15. Something to add?

Thanks so much for your time. It was lovely Chatting with you.
