Interviews: MASSIVE CHARGE

We have had the opportunity to interview the  Grindcore band MASSIVE CHARGE from France. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We were just looking for a name, and we had a lot of funny ideas but nothing strong. One day, our guitarist came in rehearsal with "Massive Charge". Everybody was immediately convinced with it. Simple to remember, announces clearly the style of our music.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Maybe we had a lot of rage to evacuate (lol). Grindcore is the perfect genre to let off steam! Seriously, I don't really know... It was the kind of music we got along on, musically I mean. And we had a guitarist very good at writing Grindcore riffs.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

If you're talking about the very first line up, I (Matt / Drums) was the only unknown. Some friends wanted to play grindcore together, and they were looking for a drummer. I was the friend of a friend, playing drums. That is the way I met them. For the current line up, I'm the last founding member. I knew Jeremy (vocals) when we asked him to join us. I played in Kaliyuga with Emy (bass and backing vocals) before we asked her to take part of it. And Gino has been recruited via a classified ad.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Emy: Meshuggah

Gino: Archspire

Jeremy: Too hard to choose just one!

Matt: Nasum

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Human bullshit... It inspires our lyrics. Concerning the music, it comes from the deepest meanders of Gino. Nobody knows, even him...

6. Where was your last gig?

Near Nancy, our city, last september. It was so good to be able to do a gig again, after all these times locked at home...

7. Where would you like to act?

I'd love to do a tour in Canada!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Napalm Death of course! Some people say that our music is very similar to theirs, and rightly so! They are our main influence.

9. Whom not?

Hum... Marilyn Manson? Seriously, we couldn't play with bands known for their nazi side...

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Emy has, during the entire shows and she cannot deel with it! That's why she hasn't any tip... Concerning the others, we don't have that problem, but I think the only way to beat it is to do some breathing exercises.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Napalm Death, Brutal Truth, Terrorizer, Misery Index.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A woman asked Emy to marry her...

13. What do you think of your fans?

Without them, we are nothing. We have the deepest respect for them. Thank you so much guys!

14. What do you think of our site?

I didn't know it before you sent this interview, so I walked around. This is a wonderful site! We have a similar website in France called Core And Co. That's a fabulous way to promote Metal Music, and all the bands have to thank you for that!

15. Something to add?

Dear readers and Metalheads, Metal scene needs you!!! So, support the bands by going to concerts, buying some CDs and merch (streaming is convenient, but doesn’t help at all). Without you, we aren’t anything! If you like our music, please order our album here: https://bit.ly/3BuuJLI and don’t hesitate to contact us to book us, we are first of all a band to see on stage.
