Interviews: Thunderor

We have had the opportunity to interview the Heavy Metal band Thunderor from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or come out just like that?

I feel like that’s a real tough thing nowadays, finding an original name. But it came quite naturally for us. We wanted a 1-word band name, during the brainstorming in my head I was definitely drawn to the concept of thunder. Thunderstruck was a HUGE song for me as a kid. I wanted the drums to be thunderous on the album. Eventually, I decided on Thunderor as kind of a combination of Thunder and Conqueror. Makes me think of He-Man a bit which I really like too.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I think the music is a reflection of the genres of music that me and Jonny really love. Traditional heavy metal, 80s metal & rock, AOR. We had a general direction of what we wanted to do but the music kinda charted its own course during the writing process. Happy with how it turned out.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yeah, the band is very close. Some of my best friends. Jonny and I played in Skull Fist together for 7 years, and it’s been about 6 years of doing Operus with Oscar.

4. Each band member favourite band?

I think Judas Priest and Stratovarius pretty much cover it haha

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

This was my first time writing lyrics, and I’m kinda glad I waited until now since it’s all based on life outlooks, experiences, stories. That and the desire to share emotions through music.

6. Where was your last gig?

Bovine Sex Club in Toronto.

7. Where would you like to act?

In movies would be cool.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Would you to do a version of our song Dangerous Times but with Phil Collins singing.

9. Whom not?

I mean don’t want to rule out any possibilities haha

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Not that I know of. I think we’ve all been playing live for so long now. Just aim on having a good time, focus on feeling the music.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Manowar, Judas Priest, AC/DC, Van Halen, Bruce Springsteen.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Guitar picks. And pretty often actually! Since I’m a drummer obviously I don’t carry them on me, but some people can’t seem to understand that haha

13. What do you think of your fans?

Since we’ve only recently released our first single we’re still in the very beginning stages of building our fans. But heavy metal fans are the best in the world! And looking forward to sharing Thunderor with them.

14. What do you think of our site?

It’s cool! I like the track-by-track features.

15. Something to add?

I hope Thunderor will be a soundtrack for your adventures!
