Interviews: HAUNTER

This is a new interview with the Alternative Pop/Rock band HAUNTER from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?

So I came up with the band name. It originally came from the idea that music that has an impact can haunt you. Although, full disclosure, I had no idea it was the name of a Pokemon. It was a total accident but it certainly worked out well for us and what we’re going for?

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I think our band is genre-less. Like we touched on so many things: Pop, Rock, Pop-Punk, EDM, Future Bass, Hip-Hop…we want every single song to touch on something new. We’re very lucky to have such a strong vocalist in Lucy. There’s literally nothing she can’t do.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Mike, our guitarist, is my best friend. I’ve known him for years. I met Lucy a few years back and we became friends because we played a show together. Mark and I met through a mutual friend. We all knew each other in one way or another. We’ve been super lucky to just get along and jell in such a profound way.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

For me, my favorite band is Jimmy Eat World. Honorable mention to CHVRCHES though. Absolutely love them so much!

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Personally, I can only really write about things I have gone through. I believe your writing should come from an authentic place. People are looking for something real to connect to and if you’re faking it, they can tell. Realness above anything else.

6. Where was your last gig?

We haven’t played a single show yet but that will change. We just booked a show for the later part of the year and we couldn’t be more stoked for it.

7. Where would you like to act?

Never thought about acting at all. I am absolutely horrible at it. However, if there was like a tv show like Brooklyn 99 that was around and I loved it…if they offered us a guest spot I’d jump on that immediately.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

There are so many artists I would love to have featured on our songs. Top of my list is the following artists: Lights, Cristal Ramirez (The Aces), Edith (Meet Me At The Atlas), Blimes, Sad Alex, Charlotte Sands, Lauren Mayberry (Chrvches), Josh Roberts (Magnolia Park), Hansel (Nightlife), Julian Comeau (Loveless), Kellin Quinn(Sleeping With Sirens), and Kaile Wolfe (RIVALS). We will definitely try to get a few of them on something in the future.

9. Who not?

Guess anyone who just doesn’t fit our vibe or support what we care about. We’re pretty chill people but there are levels to the shit.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I have extreme stage fright. I think what I did at first was just look down while I played so I wouldn’t worry about making eye contact but as I started to feel the music more and more I just got lost. I think you just gotta feel your own songs and move like you do when they hit you. It takes time for sure.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Bands that inspire me currently are just doing cool things to engage with their fans in meaningful ways so: The Maine, Charlotte Sands, Loveless, In The Mourning all have been engaging in such cool ways. It’s super inspiring and we have definitely lifted a few ideas here and there.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

My social security number. Not today dude. lol.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are absolutely incredible. There’s a group of them that have called themselves Phantoms….it's so cool to see people connect because they like our music and want to support us. That’s the coolest thing in the world. https://twitter.com/phantomsgrp

14. What do you think of our site?

It’s sick! You’re doing a great job getting smaller bands some well-deserved press.
