Interviews About Albums: Xavier Boscher - Cosmic Variations (2022)

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

This is my 16th solo album, an epic journey into cosmic reaches. It's called "Cosmic Variations" and it's my best production to date. There are ingredients that are dear to me like pretty melodies, soaring passages in clear sound, fretless bass sounds, and the power of Progressive Metal.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

"Cosmic Variations" is a great title to describe deep and powerful musical variations. The sounds deployed and the atmospheres made me think directly of a journey beyond our solar system.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

I'm the one entirely composing and producing the album.

4. If you have to pick one song, which one would you pick?

"Sea Serpent" is the most representative of the album with its catchy melody, its soaring atmospheres in the form of breaks, effective rhythms, and the power of the guitar riffs.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

No there is no particular message, my music is figurative. It is a sound experience to open your imagination.

6. Are there some lyrics that you´d love to share?

The album is entirely instrumental, even if I take great pleasure in developing the titles to best describe it and bring the listener into an openness to him and to a dreamlike universe.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thanks specially?

My inspiration is limitless. I am inspired by my state at the time of composition, by a muse or by other musicians. Recently I was very inspired by the despair of a passionate love relationship that ended shortly before the creation of the album. I was also influenced by many guitarists from the Progressive Metal scene.

8. Something to add?

Do not hesitate to listen to the album, to open your imagination, and to feel the emotions. Music is a transmitter of feelings, nothing else. You have to share and appreciate what life has to give you. Take care of yourself.
