Interviews: Luna Kiss

This is a new interview with the Alternative Rock band Luna Kiss from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?

Some bands have awesome origin story names! Sadly.. ours isn’t so epic. Unfortunately, Luna Kiss is also the name of a sexy underwear brand… We wanted to make music that was dark, and moody but also a little bit soppy… Luna Kiss seemed right.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We’ve all grown up with rock as early as we can remember. If it wasn’t Zeppelin
, Floyd, or Rush it’s been Greenday, Rancid, and Rammstein. In our teen years; we grew up at the height of emo music. Bands like Funeral For A Friend, MCR, and Thrice. All that rock music just feeds your hunger to find more.. it eventually leads to you as teens wanting to make it.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Chris, James, and I (Wil) all went to college to do music together. Tommy our latest bass player let Chris at Uni and we’ve all known him for as long as the band. He joined in 2018.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Wil: At present; Funeral For A Friend. Like it’s probably a phase…

James: Led Zeppelin

Chris: Snarky Puppy – He loves jazzy stuff

Tommy: the clash

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

What really draws us to write in the first place is just making noise together. Something out of fresh air. We’re always inspired by how bands continue to craft their version of rock. Lyrically you pull on what you know, heartache, struggles, and the stuff that you end up becoming a better and stronger person for.

6. Where was your last gig?

We played a wicked show in York U.K. at the Crauford Arms

7. Where would you like to perform?

Like most bands Reading and Leeds is a dream of ours.

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

Great question. Alive, any band that’s smashing rock music at present and their fans won’t throw pee at us. Foos, Royal Blood, QOTSA, Biffy Clyro, Muse.

9. Whom not?

Anyone where 99% of their music is written by someone else and they’re manufactured garbage!

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We all manage our nerves differently. Tommy and I go into these inner head spaces pre-gig. You can’t get anything out of us… it’s like some weird transformation. We have very much on and off-stage personas. My tip for anyone getting on stage is, that most people put in the crowd can’t do, won’t do, or don’t have the skills to do what you do. Be confident in yourself, practice as best you can, and remember your songs! If you mess up, they're yours…

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Any of the bands that drive to be different, stand by their guns and go big. Floyd with the wall, GREENDAY with American idiot… anything Rammstein, non-rock bands like Bon Iver, Nick Cave,

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We’ve been pretty lucky so far… nothing super weird. You always get chest signing and stuff that makes you super uncomfortable!

13. What do you think of your fans?

We learned a long time ago, that our fans are your family. At shows, we’re all there for one goal. To have an awesome time than happens at the moment. Music brings people together, gives them a place, and gives them purpose. It helps form our identity. Our fans help us achieve that as much as we hope we help them achieve it.

14. What do you think of our site?

We always check out every magazine and site that features us. After all most rock is an underground thing. Anyone who helps us find more music and our people is a win. The site is great and we’ve checked out a few bands from it. We tend to put together a van playlist. Whenever we find new bands we chuck them on it.

15. Something to add?

If we’ve entertained anyone enough with our words then please check out our music. We’ve got a load of stuff out this year. Our latest singles Operate and Lust For Blood are out now
