Interviews: RAYGUN ROMANCE

This is a new interview with the Electronic Rock solo project RAYGUN ROMANCE from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the artist on his FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

I wanted something that sounded Futuristic and Sexy all at once. Raygun Romance sort of fell out of the sky one day while I was thinking about it and it felt like a good fit.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I’ve been a fan of Electronic/Synth/80’s stuff for most of my life and the more time went on, the more I wanted to do something in that style. I wanted to do something that wasn’t Guitar based, or that focused on traditional Instruments. I’d done that already and I reached a point where writing music with a Guitar as the focus just wasn’t exciting anymore.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Well, it’s not a “Band” in the traditional sense. At this stage, it’s just me. But when I started the project in 2019, I hired a Singer and a Producer to help me bring my Instrumental ideas to life. Over time and out of necessity, I wound up doing Vocals, Writing Lyrics, and doing all the Mixing/ Production myself.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

I’ll give you some of my top influences - INXS Angels and Airwaves Jesus jones The Birthday Massacre A-Ha The 1975 80’s Hair Metal Goo Goo Dolls Iris Simple Minds The Chain Gang of 1974 I could go on and on…

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life, Love, Heartbreak, and the struggles of how to cope with it all… 6. Where was your last gig? The Live version of Raygun Romance has yet to become a reality. Hopefully sooner than later…

7. Where would you like to act?

Anywhere that has good sound and lighting

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

I’d love to have Chibi from the Birthday Massacre do a guest Vocal, or Lauren Mayberry from CHVRCHES.

9. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Oh yeah, I had to drink before shows for years when I first started. I was wracked with nerves. The first time I played Sober was when I joined Powerman 5000 in 2015. I had no choice, they weren't a party band and I didn’t want to blow the gig. It forced me to play sober, and I was happy to find out that I could do it.

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

See question 4

12. Something to add?

Big thanks to anyone that listens to the Music and watches the Videos. Raygun Romance is my baby and I pour my everything into it. Any and all support is greatly appreciated. More to come, stay tuned. Cheers.
