Interviews: Viridis

This is a new interview with the Metalcore band Viridis from the USA. Check out the entire interview and give them a follow on their FACEBOOK PAGE

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

Drawing inspiration from snake imagery, our home state of Texas, and the coolest color, Viridis encompasses all three themes. As well as being Latin for green and having inclusion in the scientific name for the prairie rattlesnake and green mamba, Viridis strikes us as a unique and ambitious handle.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

In our opinion, playing within the metalcore and hardcore genres provides the most room for avid experimentation while maintaining respect for the bands that inspired us. The sheer potential for pioneering new sounds is wildly alluring.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Our founding members are cousins; our drummer found us through family ties, and we had to search extensively for the perfect vocalist.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Eric (Vocals) Stone Temple Pilots

Max (Bass): ERRA

Ryan (Drums): Opeth

Zach (Guitar): Monuments

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Our approach to songwriting begins with a feeling or a mental image. We wish to convey this concept to you purely through the universal language of music; by this creed, the song writes itself. Watching this happen is truly inspiring

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig took place at Killer’s Tacos in Denton. The relaxed and intimate atmosphere allows for beautiful displays of unity through the combined appreciation of a musician’s craft.

7. Where would you like to act?

Currently, we have our eyes set on Dallas’s big four: Trees, The Factory, The House of Blues and Amplified. We will continue to work hard to play in these iconic venues, hopefully gracing stages on the east and west coast along the way.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We have been eyeing Ryan Kirby from Fit for a King, as well as Andy Cizek from Monuments. We believe these musicians would immensely compliment our sound.

9. Who not?

Viridis holds no bars on collaboration; truly, there is no greater experimental value than two acts of differing musical intent colliding in order to produce the next big sound.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Practice, practice, practice. Three-quarters of our band had never played on a stage before our first show in October of 2021. The classic tricks you always hear might work for the first couple of times, but after that, it's simply about performing often because it is impossible to simulate the adrenaline-fueled sensation of playing your music to an audience.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Lamb of God, Gojira, August Burns Red.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Pass?

13. What do you think of your fans?

We have been shown that our fans are truly riding or dying. Whether traversing adverse road conditions or braving the not-yet post-pandemic present, we have seen our people make a great effort to rebuild the local scene, even in light of recent global events.

14. What do you think of our site?

Your site is awesome! We've never seen this much in-depth and real content it's awesome to see! Can't wait to find awesome bands from you!

15. Something to add?
