Interviews: Polychuck

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock/Progressive Rock band, Polychuck from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

It's my actual last name. We thought it sounded kinda cool. Just like Van Halen or Bon Jovi we took my last name as a band name.

2. Why did you want to play genre?

I love a lot of different genres but I really need to be challenged and be mentally active when I play and write. Even if I really like minimalistic music I personally need to play more complex stuff.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I and the other guitarist ‘Jay’ have known each other for almost 20 years. The drummer and the bassist have also known each other for a very long time. We all met officially for the first time last year as the current Polychuck lineup.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

The list is so long that I don’t think it would be realistic to answer the question as it is but let’s say we all agree on the bands that influence this project. Porcupine Tree, Pain of Salvation, Dream theater, Opeth, Mars Volta

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Listening to my favourite artists is my number one source of inspiration.

6. Where was your last gig?

It was in Montreal. Hopefully we’ll tour soon.

7. Where would you like to act?

Hellfest would be dope!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Steven Wilson!

9. Whom not?

Not that I dislike the genre but any top tier rap or hip-hop artist cause it’s just the absolute opposite of what I do.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Yeah, big time. It’s always before the show. Once it starts though it all goes away and it’s the best feeling in the world.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Probably Porcupine tree

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I was once asked to do a happy birthday cameo to a 7 year old girl. Thought it was kinda funny cause it’s not my typical audience.

13. What do you think of your fans?

I love them more than they think. They’re my favourite people in the world! After my kids, friends and family.

14. What do you think of our site?

You’re site is absolute fire! Can’t wait to share it

15. Something to add?

Huge thanks for the opportunity!! Our latest song ‘Blind Lead The Blind’ literally just came out so go give it a listen! It’s on all streaming apps
