Interviews: Godzilla In The Kitchen

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock/Stoner Rock band Godzilla In The Kitchen from Germany. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it, or came out just like that?

Long story short. We were hanging out at a party back in 2011 and were all properly fueling up. When extremely delicious muffins were served, Eric found it increasingly difficult to speak after eating those muffins. At some point it was said: we move on, there is another party. The new location was known for the super large kitchen in which almost everything took place - including the parties. Eric asked everyone to go there and at that moment he said: and then we act like Godzilla in the kitchen. Actually, he wanted to make use of the German Slogan: Act like an Elephant in a Porcellain Store. We looked into each other's eyes afterward and after several fits of laughter later it was clear: that's the name of our band.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We have never consciously chosen any genre. We started jamming sometime in 2011. Everyone brought their influences and out came these tracks and this style. There was no plan behind it. Of course, all of us listen to some kind of rock music. In some way we express what moves us. Every time we jam something that really gets us, everyone in the room knows immediately: that was awesome - let's make something out of it.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Eric found Felix through his notice in a small music store around the corner in Jena, Germany. Felix then met Simon in college, after half a year he dragged him to our rehearsals and everything fell into place at once.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Eric: Led Zeppelin

Simon: Intronaut

Felix: Karnivool

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Alone we really have difficulties writing songs. But as soon as we stand together in a room and turn the amps up loud, there is a certain dynamic and energy that drives us. All of a sudden we become creative. A really strange process that is hard to control, but incredibly fulfilling.

6. Where was your last gig?

At Wacken Open Air 2022

7. Where would you like to act?

At Wacken Open Air 2023

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Bob Rock

9. Whom not?

Maynard James Keenan because his wine just tastes like shit!

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Always. Nervousness is also good, it promotes concentration. At some point, you realize that it can also get in the way, especially at the beginning of a gig. For beginners, we can only advise you to stay cool and remember that everyone is just at the concert to have fun, so have fun yourself. And if anyone is bothered by a wrong note from you, fuck them, let them stay at home, and stream the music.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Of Course, Tool also Acts like Faith No More because they don't give a damn about any genre.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Eric: Can I photograph your effect board, if you are famous I can sell your settings on the internet Simon: Permission to make love to our music.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are very patient with us and often very generous, without them we wouldn't even be here

14. What do you think of our site?

You can clearly see that there are people behind this site who are motivated from within to support the underground rock music scene. you have the goal to offer music that is still produced with passion, a platform where it is not about how you can squeeze the last cents out of your fans or please as many people as possible to secure your financial existence. keep up the good work!

15. Something to add?

Let's talk again in 7 years, then we will have our 3rd album ready :D
