Interviews: Hunting Giants

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Heavy Rock band, Hunting Giants from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We put together a list of over 200 potential band names where we added anything we thought of without criticism. While we added Hunting Giants to the list earlier in our search, it was only till we reviewed them all that we fell in love with it.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Thoughts of the genre are not what inspires us to write music the way we do. The music we create tends to be on the heavier side and we embrace that aspect.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Corey, Daniel, and Brad knew played in a previous project Oddchild. Steve met the band in Vancouver after moving from Alberta. Within a month, we recorded our first EP, Skyward Eyes.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Corey: Mudvayne

Steve: Gojira

Daniel: I Mother Earth

Brad: Beethoven

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We are inspired by our heroes in music, our personal experiences, and exploring ideas we love through song.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was at Pub 340 in the heart of Vancouver, before Covid. We then spend the next two years writing and recording our upcoming album, Mythos.

7. Where would you like to act?

We want to take our act on the road on a Canadian tour that dips into the Western United States in 2023.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We would like to open for Gojira, Rammstein, Mastodon, and Opeth.

9. Whom not?

The Catholic Church

10. Have any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Everyone feels afraid before they get on the stage, that is natural. You have to do it before you think you are ready and do it even though you are scared. Embrace your fear, let it fuel you.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Rage Against the Machine for the tightness of their actions and having such a massive sound for minimal instrumentation. Pink Floyd for their storytelling that is expressed in concept albums and their vivid soundscapes. Opeth for the wide array of textures contained within a single song. Tool for the precise construction of their songs and how they explore grooves through varying time signatures. I Mother Earth for the fluid jamminess of their set.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To have sex with her in the washroom after getting all of our gear stolen.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans know what they like, they are independent thinkers and are not afraid to be original and break the mold.

14. What do you think of our site?

We love your website, you have done such an awesome job at the construction. Especially the New Bands drop-down menu is very nicely done.

15. Something to add?
