Interviews: Wolfcross

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the  Black Metal band, Wolfcross from Sweden. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

J. B. Vorgoth: When I recorded the first demo back in 2014 the track "Wolfcross" came out the best in my opinion and so it felt natural to name the band after it.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

J. B. Vorgoth: I started out in the very beginning trying to write songs for my death metal band I played in but they were discarded because well they are not death metal songs, they are black metal songs And when I recorded them for the Storm of Black Salvation demo I did the vocals by myself for the first time and my vocals also sounded black metal. So this music has chosen me just as much as I have chosen it.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

J. B. Vorgoth: No we did not. At first, Wolfcross was my solo project but eventually, I wanted to make it a real band and so I put up ads looking for musicians and that is how we came together.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

J. B. Vorgoth: Bathory

Galerius: Urgehal

Anoth: Moonsorrow Nebirus: Dimmu Borgir

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

J. B. Vorgoth: The music of other bands foremost but also books, movies, and basically anything that makes me go "That's fucking metal!" inspire me as a songwriter.

6. Where was your last gig?

J. B. Vorgoth: It was at Club Fredagsmangel in Stockholm.

7. Where would you like to act?

J. B. Vorgoth: All over the world.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

J. B. Vorgoth: There are way too many bands that I admire and look up to for various reasons and that I would love share the stage with to mention here.

9. Whom not?

J. B. Vorgoth: We tend to try to stick to playing shows together with bands that suit our style of music. Metal has many sub-genres and many of them are not compatible with black metal for various reasons.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

J. B. Vorgoth: No I am very comfortable on stage and in front of an audience. But I think many people overthink it. If you play a show and a crowd is there to see you then they are there to see YOU and so you already have them on your side. You don't have to win them over or convince them of anything so there is no reason to be nervous really.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

J. B. Vorgoth: Bathory by far. But also bands such as Marduk, Watain, Dark Funeral, and Nifelheim.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

J. B. Vorgoth: I never had anything really weird, at least not for black metal. We cover ourselves in blood for our stage shows and a few have asked if we could cover them in blood as well.

13. What do you think of your fans?

J. B. Vorgoth: To enjoy a band such as Wolfcross you almost need to be one of those true metal heads that doesn't see this just as a style of music, this is a way of life. And I take great pride in that.

14. What do you think of our site?

J. B. Vorgoth: I think sites like yours are vital for the metal in this day and age.

15. Something to add?

J. B. Vorgoth: Buy our album and keep supporting black metal!
