Behind The Tracks: Nicholas Ross - Notes From A Ghost (Single) (2022)

When writing the follow up to 2022's 'Mirror Image' and 'Structures' EPs, I was faced with the dilemma of which direction to take my new songs. Do I write more accessible songs with catchy hooks or do I write heavier songs than before? With 'Notes From A Ghost' I attempted both. The riffs and guitar solos lean more towards djent and prog metal while the choruses feature singable hooks not dissimilar to metalcore. This combined with a new production sound, focusing on a punchy hard hitting mix, and a more mature take on song writing make this my favourite song I've written so far. As soon as I listened to the demo mix I knew that this was the perfect song to showcase the new sound and imagery I will be taking forward into 2023. Heavy, atmospheric and intensely catchy this song sets the tone for my future releases. I can't wait for you all to hear this track! Nicholas Ross
