Interviews: EVISCERATE THE CROWN

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Deathcore band EVISCERATE THE CROWN from Australia. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band name represents our opposition to social norms and passion for people to be free to be who they are; hence, we are “eviscerating” the “crown” of expectation society has on people.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We all have a passion for progressive metal and have very different backgrounds. Sam started out playing Fusion Jazz and Percussion in Orchestras. Alex is a Music Teacher, spending his time jamming everything from AC DC to Animals As Leaders with his students. Liam is a Panel Beater and spends his days practising under his helmet, for which many of his colleagues have thanked us… Playing prog is our out, our relief and our passion, we hope you all enjoy what we do as much as we do!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yeah, Alex knew Sam from a previous project. Alex also knew Liam from high school and a few gatherings where they had previously discussed the idea of getting a project together. Funnily Alex also knew both Dale and Luke, who were previous students of his, when we were throwing names around, Sam distinctly remembers him leaning over and telling him he had it sorted. Catch a show and I’m sure you’ll see what he means. So, in full, Alex is the link pin that brought us together.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

Sam’s is Lorna Shore Liam’s is To The Grave Dale’s is ERRA Alex’s is Periphery Luke’s is Tool

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Influences on the band include the likes of Periphery, Leprous, Northlane, Thy Art Is Murder and Karnivool.

6. Where was your last gig?

Sydney, Australia

7. Where would you like to act?

We’d love to tour Europe or the US

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

It would be rad to tour with Suffocation again if they Tour Australia. Not only for the nostalgia of our 2019 Japan Tour but because the guys in suffocation just had a good time from the start of the tour to the end of it, no matter what we/they were doing.

9. Whom not?

We don’t have anyone we wouldn’t tour with; we’d just be humbled to be on tour, playing shows and meeting fans.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

A few of us have had issues with stage fright. Sam our drummer does a lot of public speaking in front of large crowds, his advice to people is its okay to be nervous, everyone is nervous. Find your happy place, practise there and return there when you’re life. If that’s tapping your foot, nodding your head, dancing, whatever that is, do you and the nerves will go!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

We have really enjoyed watching bands like Lycanthrope grow and develop. Speaking of Lycanthrope, have you heard their new banger!? And did you hear about Wacken! Talking about inspiring, we’d also love to give a shout-out to our hometown homies in Reliqa! We’d love to keep mentioning bands, but we’d probably run out of space… You know who you are though!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

The first time we got asked for a photo was probably the weirdest moment for us as a band, we weren’t really expecting it. We’re all a bit weird and funny, so it ended up being the right laugh. We spent more time trying to stop laughing than we did posing for the photo. Thank you to our cameraman Chris…

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love our fans; we cannot get enough of them. If we could, we would take them all home and hide them under our blankets… Then feed them by transporting food from the table in our pockets and giving it to them, after we tell our partner we are going to the bathroom… Whether that’s before or after the bathroom, we will let you decide…

14. What do you think of our site?

We think it's awesome, one site with sick content, and good diversity!

15. Something to add?

Thank you, Jon and everyone at Breathing The Core Promotions and everyone who has checked out Dear Colossus so far, we hope you have enjoyed it. If you are yet to give it a stream go give it a spin and let us know what you think!
