Interviews: Sloppy Joe’s

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hard Rock band Sloppy Joe's from Germany. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Well, I (Jesse Garon, Voc./Guitar) was watching a very old classic black/white movie called "Citizen Kane". In one scene a drunk broken guy gets interviewed regarding an old friend of him and he can't remember the name of the friend's home. So he starts naming some titles/names and stops by the name "Sloppy Joe's". It is a very funny impressive scene, so I thought "Why not call my band Sloppy Joe's?".

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Because we love it. We are not only musicians, we are Rock/Metal Fans as well.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, I was playing with Johnny (our Bass player) in a band before.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Jesse Garon (Vocals/Guitar): KISS, AC/DC, King's X, Slayer

Johnny Angel (Bass): Sisters Of Mercy, The Misfits, Iron Maiden Pätzy

Dävey (Drums): Rammstein, Dream Theater

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The life around us and our favorite bands.

6. Where was your last gig?

We played a show in Braunschweig (Germany) a few days ago. The venue was packed and the crowd got crazy. We really enjoyed that night.

7. Where would you like to act?

All over the world. We are focused on all people who love rock music. There are so many great places where we would like to play.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

There are lots of great bands out there we would like to be featured with; e.g. KISS, Rammstein, Iron Maiden, Volbeat

9. Whom not?

EDM and Hip Hop artists

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Before we hit the stage we are always a bit nervous, but not anxious. Our intent is to perform the coming concert better than any show before. Just think of this and you will be successful.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Our biggest inspirations are legendary hard rock bands like KISS, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, and more: Just bands that can still conquer the world. These bands are very focused on delivering a big live rock show. So we took these influences and mixed them in our own style.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

In the first concerts after the pandemic, I used to play with a bandana on my head, because my hair grew very long. Two months ago after a show of us, a fan came to the merch stand and asked to buy that sweaty bandana. That was crazy. 

13. What do you think of your fans?

Without fans we are nothing. We love them and hope that they'll keep on listening to our music as long as possible.

14. What do you think of our site?

Your site is cool: Very versatile and a great opportunity for bands to reach more audiences. So please keep going!

Yes, we got a message for all the Rock/Metal people out there: It's not easy for bands like us to survive at these times. So please support your local bands. Go to concerts, help the venues to be alive and never stop rockin'! Thank you in advance!
