Interviews: Subvergence

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Deathcore/Death Metal band, Subvergence from Belgium. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name "Subvergence" emerged after we were throwing suggestions for some time. It basically means something like "Stirring things up" in a controversial way, and we thought that would be a nice idea.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We all have hyperactive/energetic personalities. So naturally, this reflects onto our songwriting. We find peace in chaos!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We basically all met because of this band. With the exception of Jan (Guitar) and Benji (Vocals). They have worked together in the past. 

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Benji: Braking Benjamin

Jan: Distant

Timo: Thy Art Is Murder

Matthijs: Spite

Michiel: Falsifier

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We make pretty angry music, so: - Shitty jobs - Shitty people - Lots of caffeine - Waffles (We hate waffles...)

6. Where was your last gig?

Gent, JH Asgaard. The crowd was very welcoming and engaging. And the other bands were super awesome!

7. Where would you like to act?

We don't have any specific goals set. But we would love to do some festivals, or be support- acts for some of our favorite bands!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

There are so many great artists and bands out there, it's too hard to choose! 

9. Whom not?

My stepdad

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Yes, we have! So, a few tips from our perspective: - Be prepared! Practice a lot, so you can go on stage with confidence. - Try to feel the music, instead of thinking about it too much. - If the stress makes you uncomfortable, turn it into anger, and direct it into your performance. And, it's very cliché. But in time it gets better! I promise!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Thy Art Is Murder, Oceano, Martyr Defiled. And so many more!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

So far we have no juicy stories!

13. What do you think of your fans?

We're a fresh new band, but so far we've already made some awesome new friends, everybody is welcome to Subvergence-Family!

14. What do you think of our site?

It's a very interesting platform for underground bands! Cheers to you guys!

15. Something to add?

We dropped our EP "Below Hell" a few months ago. We have a music video for the title track of the EP on youtube. In the meantime, we are writing new stuff!
