Interviews: 13South

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock/Hard Rock band, 13South from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Blevins: The band has had a couple name changes over the years, but 13South is us, it’s what we are. 13 is my favorite number and we have strong southern roots, so 13South was the go-to name. Came pretty easy.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Blevins: Well like I said it’s in our roots, it is part of our DNA. It’s about good times with good friends and making memories.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Blevins: Bradley and I have been writing and playing together since 1997. We started playing together through a mutual friend.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Bradley: Joe Joe Gun

Blevins: No fav, I just dig rock music (if I had to pick it would be Junkyard and John Corabi)

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Blevins: This band, people, places, a good guitar riff, etc…. Lots of things come to mind.

6. Where was your last gig?

Blevins: It was Bradley and I did an acoustic show at Acme Pizza and Daiquiris in Brandon, MS.

7. Where would you like to act?

Blevins: As many festivals as possible. All over the US, UK, Japan, Australia wherever we can. Small or big venues, it does not matter. Just want to play for the people.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Blevins: Oh wow. Foo Fighters, Dirty Honey, Blackberry Smoke, Whiskey Myers, ZZ Top, Skynyrd, the list goes on and on.

9. Whom not?

Blevins: Can’t think of anyone we wouldn't play with.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Blevins: Yes, I have early on in my career, but it doesn’t really bother me now. It is just a mental thing, you just have to face the crowd and your fears, stand there and say “FUCK IT” I own this, I am this. It usually went away during the first song.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Blevins: Junkyard, John Corabi, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Joe Walsh, Motley Crue, Anthrax, Zeppelin, Hank Williams Jr., David Allen Coe, Waylon, Jerry Reed, Grand Funk Railroad, and so many. Tons of influences.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Bradley: Had a young lady ask him for the guitarist's autograph, he is the bass player. LOL

13. What do you think of your fans?

Blevins: They love music, they love us, they are the greatest.

14. What do you think of our site?

Blevins: Great site for up-and-coming bands. Lots of content, a great place to find bands in your area of the world and other places as well. I dig it.

15. Something you'd like to add?

Blevins: If we are in your area come and see us, have a good time, have a drink, and just rock the hell out with us. Look us up on Bands in Town for tourist destinations. As well as keep us on your social media playlists.
